Dehumidifiers for Industrial Facilities: Desiccant and High-Capacity Refrigerant Units
Industrial moisture problems are rarely about comfort. They show up as rust on tooling, condensation dripping onto finished goods, caking in powder handling, and coatings that will not cure. This collection holds desiccant dehumidifiers and high-capacity refrigerant units from Bry-Air, Ebac, Dapper Supply, Abatement Technologies, Namco and XPOWER. Crawl-space units and ducted whole-house models are not included, because neither is sized for a plant floor.
Desiccant or Refrigerant: Temperature Drives the Choice
Refrigerant machines pull moisture onto a cold coil, so output falls as the space gets colder and the coil begins to frost. Below roughly 65°F you want either a refrigerant unit specifically rated for low temperature or a desiccant machine, which uses a rotor that adsorbs moisture without depending on a cold coil. Desiccant is the usual answer for cold storage, unheated warehouses, winter work, and anywhere the requirement is a low humidity setpoint rather than simply less humidity. The Ebac DD1200 is rated 562 PPD at 80°F and 60% RH, and its minimum operating temperature is -4°F. Those are two separate specifications, which is worth watching on any datasheet: desiccant output also shifts with inlet temperature, moisture load and regeneration conditions, so size against your own conditions rather than the headline number.
Reading Capacity: PPD Against lbs/hr
Two rating conventions are in play here, and comparing the figures directly will mislead you. Ebac, Dapper Supply, Abatement Technologies and XPOWER publish pints per day: the Dapper Supply DP-CD1131 at 350 PPD, the Abatement Technologies AT250RS at 266 PPD, the XPOWER XD-165L at 165 PPD, and the refrigerant Ebac CD425 at 285 PPD and 1,750 CFM. Bry-Air rates the MiniPAC line in pounds of moisture removed per hour alongside airflow, so the MiniPAC MP-600 is 20 lbs/hr at 600 CFM and the MP-2700 is a 2,700 CFM machine. A pint of water weighs a little over a pound, so 20 lbs/hr comes out near 460 pints a day. Size on the moisture load, not on floor area.
Three-Phase Power and Continuous Duty
Settle voltage and phase early, because bringing new service to an install location is an expensive surprise. Among the Bry-Air units, the MP-350, MP-600 and MP-2700 are three-phase machines, while the smaller MP-100 and MP-175 run on 208 to 240V. The Ebac DD700, DD900 and DD1200 are each listed in both 220V and 460V three-phase builds. Stainless steel versions of the MiniPAC line are listed alongside the standard builds for environments that need them. Controlling humidity also limits mold growth: the EPA advises keeping indoor humidity below 60 percent, ideally between 30 and 50 percent (EPA, Mold and Moisture).

Brio Air Filtration = Game Changer
Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides,allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
