Floor Scrubbers
Commercial floor scrubbers apply cleaning solution, agitate with scrub brushes or pads, and vacuum dirty water in a single pass, replacing mop-and-bucket systems with measurable productivity and cleanliness gains on hard commercial floors. Walk-behind models from 14 to 28-inch deck widths cover offices, schools, and retail; ride-on machines handle warehouses and distribution centers. Used by janitorial contractors, facilities maintenance teams, and building service companies.

How Do Floor Scrubbers Outperform Mop-and-Bucket Systems?
Commercial floor scrubbers complete three steps simultaneously: solution dispensing, mechanical scrubbing, and dirty water recovery. A mop spreads contaminated water across the floor and leaves it to air-dry; a floor scrubber removes it entirely in the same pass. The result is measurably cleaner floors, faster dry times, and reduced slip-and-fall risk on hard surfaces — a documented concern under OSHA's walking-working surfaces standards, which identify wet floors as one of the most common causes of workplace injury claims. Scrubber productivity varies with deck width: a 17" walk-behind covers approximately 12,000–15,000 sq ft per hour, while a 24" ride-on unit handles 30,000–40,000 sq ft per hour — comparisons that make the case for machine cleaning on any account larger than a small retail space.
Should You Choose a Walk-Behind or Ride-On Floor Scrubber?
Walk-behind floor scrubbers with 14–20" deck widths are the standard choice for schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, and mid-size retail where maneuverability in restrooms, corridors, and around fixtures matters more than raw throughput. Models at 24–28" cross into the territory where ride-on machines become more efficient, though walk-behinds still outperform in tight or crowded spaces where a larger machine would require constant repositioning. Ride-on floor scrubbers are designed for open warehouse floors, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and large retail environments where consistent 30,000+ sq ft per shift cleaning is routine. Nacecare, Mercury Floor Machines, Tornado, and Namco cover both categories with corded electric and battery-powered configurations to match facility power access and shift length requirements.
Choosing the Right Floor Scrubber for Your Facility
- Measure the deck against your aisles: A 17 to 20 inch deck turns inside retail aisles and restrooms. Warehouse main runs justify 28 inches or wider.
- Walk-behind or ride-on: Under about 15,000 sq ft per shift stays walk-behind. Past that, a rider starts paying for itself in labor hours.
- Battery or corded: Battery frees you from the cord but adds charge-cycle planning and eventual replacement cost. Corded suits small fixed footprints near outlets.
- Check run time against shift length: Solution tank and battery should both clear one full shift. Refilling mid-shift costs more over a year than the larger tank did upfront.
- Confirm pad versus brush: Disc decks handle finished concrete and VCT. Cylindrical decks sweep and scrub in one pass on grouted tile and textured surfaces.

Should You Choose Corded or Battery Power?
Corded electric floor scrubbers deliver consistent motor performance for the full shift duration without battery degradation concerns — the reliable choice for fixed routes in facilities with accessible power outlets. Battery floor scrubbers eliminate cord management, remove trip hazards in occupied spaces, and allow cleaning in areas where running extension cords is impractical or prohibited. Lithium-ion battery systems have replaced lead-acid in most commercial machines, with runtime figures of 2–4 hours and charge cycles in the hundreds before capacity degrades. The EPA's guidance on green cleaning recommends chemical reduction strategies that floor scrubbers directly enable: machines use significantly less cleaning chemical per square foot than mop-and-bucket methods because solution is applied precisely and recovered rather than spread and evaporated. Brush pressure, pad driver type, and solution flow rate are the three operational variables that determine cleaning results independent of machine brand.

we have three cats, and this purifier has done wonders in removing pet odors and dander
Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
this bedroom purifier has transformed my sleep quality. the air is so much fresher and cleaner worth every penny
very customer friendly and professional design.
perfect for maneuvering in tight areas the HEPA filter is a huge bonus
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
This vacuum has exceeded my expectations. It's super powerful and handles daily cleaning with ease. I recommend it to everyone.
really effective in sweeping up all kinds of debris from our warehouse floor
