Pressure Washers for Concrete Cleaning
What Pressure Cleans Concrete Best?
Concrete cleans best at 3,000 to 4,000 PSI with a surface cleaner attachment, which covers the slab evenly and fast with no wand stripes or swirl marks. Gas units suit large outdoor concrete where there is no power, and higher pressure handles heavy buildup and surface prep before coating or sealing. Size the surface cleaner to the machine's GPM so the spray bar spins at full speed, and keep a wand with a 15 to 25 degree tip for edges, corners, and control joints the round hood misses.
How Do You Remove Oil Stains from Concrete?
Oil needs a degreaser and often hot water, not just pressure, since cold water will not lift set-in oil from porous concrete. Apply an alkaline degreaser, let it dwell without drying, then clean at 3,000-plus PSI with a surface cleaner and repeat on deep stains rather than raising pressure past what the surface can take. Keep the tip moving so you do not etch lines into the slab, and expect very old oil to lighten over several treatments rather than vanish in one.
What About Wash Water Runoff?
Concrete wash water can carry oil and sediment into storm drains, which stormwater rules regulate, so capture and dispose of it where required. Review the EPA stormwater discharge guidance and local rules before large slab or lot jobs, and plan a berm-and-vacuum or mat recovery into the setup. Building recovery in from the start is far cheaper than a fine, and many commercial clients now ask for a runoff plan before the work.
