What Pressure Monitors Measure and Why It Matters
Differential pressure monitors measure the air pressure difference between the contained work area and the clean adjacent space during abatement and remediation projects. A properly operating containment with a functioning negative air machine maintains lower pressure inside than outside — typically 0.02 to 0.05 inches of water column negative. This pressure differential confirms that air flows inward through gaps and entry points rather than outward, preventing asbestos fibers, mold spores, or lead dust from migrating to occupied building areas. Without pressure monitoring, containment integrity is assumed rather than verified.
Regulatory Documentation and Data Logging
Continuous pressure logging records containment conditions throughout an abatement project, including periods when crews are busy and manual entries may be missed. Category options store time-stamped readings for later review. The PressurePro Model 1 keeps each job under its start and end dates in non-volatile internal memory, so records stay organized without extra paperwork. At closeout, contractors can print the job log on site with the onboard thermal printer or copy it to a flash drive through the USB Type A port for the client file.
