The DC-21-1170 pairs Mercury's largest 21" apron with a 1170 RPM burnishing speed — lower than the DC-21-2000, which makes it the better choice for facilities that burnish daily or multiple times per week. At 1170 RPM, the machine generates less friction heat per pass, which means less thermal stress on the floor finish coat over time. The same 1.5 HP D/C rectified motor and front caster pad-pressure system used in the 2000 RPM model carry over here, so the build quality and chassis weight (86 lbs.) are consistent across the DC-21 line.

At 1170 RPM, the gloss result is slightly less intense — a satin rather than wet-look — but the finish coat lasts longer before needing stripping and re-coating. Use white or tan pads at 1170 RPM; natural fiber pads also work well. The 21" apron and 86-lb. machine weight give the DC-21-1170 a slight weight advantage over the 84-lb. DC-19-1170 for pad seating on smooth VCT.
