Where the L-15E Fits in Quiet-Cleaning Programs

The L-15E occupies the narrowest niche in Lo-Boy cleaning programs: facilities where noise reduction is required and the cleaning zone is too narrow for a 17" machine. Walk-in cooler interiors with 16" effective working width, laboratory equipment aisles, narrow hotel service corridors, and server room access lanes are the environments the L-15E addresses. A standard 15" floor machine in these zones handles the width but generates noise that the Lo-Boy design eliminates. For facilities that already run larger Lo-Boy models in wider areas and need a matched-speed machine for the tightest zones, the L-15E operates at the same 175 RPM on the same motor platform — finish results and scrubbing depth are consistent throughout the building regardless of which Lo-Boy model handles which zone.

Under-Apron Gearbox at 15" Scale and Pad Pressure

At 96 lbs on a 14" pad driver, the L-15E delivers higher pounds-per-square-inch than any wider Lo-Boy model. The under-apron gearbox provides the same acoustic benefit at 15" as at larger sizes: the rotating gear assembly stays enclosed in the apron housing rather than coupling vibration to the handle frame. The slightly smaller apron housing at 15" creates a more compact enclosure around the gearbox than in the 19", 20", and 21" models, but the transmission of noise through the handle is reduced by the same mechanical principle. The H-15E Hercules weighs 104 lbs, 8 lbs more than the L-15E Lo-Boy. Both use a triple-planetary gearbox. Mercury markets the Lo-Boy as its ultra-quiet line. If the facility has no noise constraint, the H-15E provides more stripping force; if occupied-hours cleaning is required, the L-15E is the correct selection.
