The Hawk F04-17-01 17" 2-Speed Extra Heavy Duty Professional Floor Machine replaces two single-speed buffers with one commercial-grade machine. The 1.5 HP DC rectified 2-speed motor switches between 165 RPM for aggressive stripping and scrubbing and 300 RPM for high-speed buffing and spray finishing, covering a 16" pad path at 8.5–9.1 Amp draw. Triple-planetary 11:1 helical-cut commercial gears maintain both speed settings under sustained load, and GS42-rated noise levels of 60 dB at low speed and 69 dB at high speed allow daytime operation in occupied facilities.

Where the Hawk 17" 2-Speed XHD Outperforms Single-Speed Machines
Single-speed 165 RPM machines require a second burnisher to restore high-gloss finishes after stripping and recoating. The F04-17-01 eliminates that second machine — strip at 165 RPM, recoat the floor, then switch to 300 RPM for spray buffing or dry buffing to restore luster, all with the same unit. At 94 lbs and UL/CUL listed, it operates in schools, hospitals, government buildings, and manufacturing facilities requiring equipment certification.
