AirMedic Pro 6 Air Purifier — Deep Carbon Filtration for Chemical and MCS Environments
Standard HEPA handles particles, but does nothing for gases, VOCs, or persistent chemical odors. The AllerAir AirMedic Pro 6 pairs a 17-lb activated carbon bed (2.5" deep) with medical-grade HEPA filtration (99.97% at 0.3 microns) to address both challenges simultaneously. At 560 CFM with variable speed control and a 57-lb operating weight on 2" casters, it moves easily between rooms while maintaining continuous filtration in occupied spaces.
AirMedic Pro 6 Carbon Capacity and Filtration Performance
The carbon bed is the primary differentiator. At 17 lbs (2.5" depth), it holds significantly more adsorbent material than most consumer or commercial units, giving it both longer filter life and higher chemical capacity per service interval.
17 lb activated carbon bed (2.5" depth) — removes formaldehyde, VOCs, ammonia, and chemical gases that HEPA alone cannot capture; upgrade to 18 lb Vocarb blend for industrial chemical environments
Medical-grade HEPA at 99.97% efficiency — captures particles at 0.3 microns including dust, pollen, mold spores, and fine particulates
560 CFM motor with variable speed — dial from 39 dB (low) to 60 dB (high) to balance clean air delivery against noise level in occupied spaces
40+ carbon blend options — specify Exec (general VOC), Vocarb (industrial chemical), or custom blends for specific sensitivities
Optional UV germicidal module — add pathogen destruction for mold, bacteria, and virus applications without replacing the base unit
CSA/UL certified — runs safely in occupied spaces on standard 115V or 230V circuits
AirMedic Pro 6 Applications and Environments
Medical and dental offices use the Pro 6 to remove chemical odors and airborne pathogens during procedures — the deep carbon bed handles disinfectant fumes and anesthetic gases that accumulate in treatment rooms. Individuals with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) rely on it as a primary air management unit in home offices and bedrooms, where the variable speed allows near-silent operation at night. New construction environments off-gassing from paint, flooring adhesives, and cabinetry benefit from the Vocarb carbon blend, which targets low-molecular-weight VOCs more aggressively. The 57-lb unit on 2" wheels moves between rooms without tools.
AirMedic Pro 6 CADR Rating and Filter Stack
The Pro 6 uses a three-stage filter stack: activated carbon pre-filter removes large particles and extends HEPA life, the main carbon bed handles gas-phase contaminants, and the medical-grade HEPA stage captures particles. Available in Black, Sandstone, and White to match facility aesthetics. For spaces above 800 sq ft or with higher chemical loads, consider stepping up to the AirMedic Pro 6 HD, which adds a 3.5" carbon bed (26–29 lbs) and Super HEPA at 99.99% efficiency.
How much activated carbon does the AirMedic Pro 6 contain?
The standard Exec configuration contains 17 lbs of activated carbon in a 2.5"-deep bed. The Vocarb option increases that to 18 lbs using a blend specifically formulated for industrial chemical environments and low-molecular-weight VOCs.
What is the HEPA efficiency rating on the Pro 6?
The AirMedic Pro 6 uses medical-grade HEPA filtration at 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 microns — the same standard required for hospital-grade particle filtration. For 99.99% at 0.1 microns, the HD model uses Super HEPA.
What CFM does the AirMedic Pro 6 deliver and how large a room does it cover?
The Pro 6 delivers 560 CFM at maximum speed. At 2 ACH (standard residential), that covers approximately 1,500 sq ft. At 5 ACH (recommended for MCS or medical environments), effective coverage is around 600 sq ft.
Can I choose a specific carbon blend for my chemical sensitivity?
Yes. AllerAir offers 40+ carbon blend options. The Exec blend is the standard general-purpose option; Vocarb targets industrial chemicals and low-molecular-weight compounds; custom blends are available for specific sensitivities. Specify your requirement at time of order.
What voltage does the AirMedic Pro 6 require?
The Pro 6 ships in 115V/60Hz (standard North American) or 230V/50Hz configurations. Both versions are CSA/UL safety certified. Specify voltage at checkout — do not attempt to convert between configurations in the field.
What is the noise level of the AirMedic Pro 6 on low speed?
On the lowest speed setting, the Pro 6 operates at 39 dB(A) — library-quiet and suitable for bedrooms, offices, and occupied clinical spaces. Maximum speed reaches 60 dB(A).
When should I choose the Pro 6 HD over the standard Pro 6?
Choose the HD model when your environment has serious chemical contamination, active off-gassing, or when MCS severity requires maximum carbon capacity. The HD contains 26–29 lbs of carbon in a 3.5" bed — roughly 50% more than the standard Pro 6 — and uses Super HEPA at 99.99% efficiency at 0.1 microns.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
