Airgle AG300: FDA-cleared UV-C air purification in a desktop footprint

The AG300 is one of three Airgle models cleared by the FDA as a Class II medical ultraviolet air purifier under 510(k) K232645. Air passes a combined carbon and cHEPA cartridge, then a Titanium Pro UV-C module at 254 nm. It does that from a desk or a nightstand: 11.7 by 9.7 by 13.3 inches, 14.3 lbs, 32 dBA on low.

AG300 filter stack and airflow

  • Four stages: prefilter, activated carbon, cHEPA, then the Titanium Pro UV-C module. On the AG300 the carbon and cHEPA layers are combined in one 2-in-1 cartridge.
  • cHEPA filtration. Airgle rates the cHEPA media at 99.999% at 0.003 microns. The media area is 12 sq ft with 0.12 lbs of activated carbon.
  • Titanium Pro UV-C module. Germicidal UV-C near 254 nm, using Airgle's patented photocatalytic oxidation design (US 8,557,188 B2).
  • 100 CFM maximum rated airflow. 288 sq ft at 2.5 air changes per hour, 144 sq ft at 5 ACH.
  • 32 dBA on low, 65 dBA on high. BLDC motor, five fan speeds.
  • iOS and Android app control for remote speed adjustment and air quality monitoring.
  • 45W maximum draw at 100–120V / 50–60Hz.

AG300 applications and sizing

The AG300 suits bedrooms, home offices, and small consultation rooms. Size it by air changes per hour rather than by room area alone: 288 sq ft is the 2.5 ACH figure, 144 sq ft is the 5 ACH figure, both at the manufacturer's assumed ceiling height of roughly 7.8 ft. Rooms with 9 or 10 ft ceilings need proportionally less floor area per unit. At 32 dBA on low it stays quiet enough for a bedroom or a consultation room.

AG300 clearance, certifications, and what ships

FDA cleared the Airgle Room Air Purifier as a Class II medical ultraviolet air purifier on February 16, 2024 under 510(k) K232645, for inactivation of indoor airborne aerosols including bacteria and viruses in medical facilities and occupied spaces. In the testing submitted to FDA, the AG300 achieved greater than 4-log reduction of MS2 bacteriophage entrained on the filter after 120 minutes at fan speed 5. The clearance covers UV-C inactivation. It does not certify filtration efficiency, CADR, or coverage figures, which come from Airgle.

The AG300 is CARB certified for California ozone emission limits and ETL listed by Intertek. Airgle's product sheet rates bacteria removal at 99.99%. The housing is PC + ABS. Warranty runs five years for non-commercial use and two years for commercial use. The box holds the AG300, the pre-installed 2-in-1 cHEPA/carbon filter, the Titanium Pro UV module, a remote control, and the owner's manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does cHEPA differ from standard HEPA filtration?
Standard HEPA is rated at 99.97% capture at 0.3 microns. Airgle rates its cHEPA media at 99.999% at 0.003 microns. Worth knowing when you compare the two numbers: 0.3 microns is the size HEPA filters are worst at capturing, so a HEPA filter is more efficient, not less, on particles smaller than that. The cHEPA rating is a different and more demanding test point, not a hundredfold improvement.
What does the Titanium Pro UV-C module do?
It is a germicidal UV-C stage operating near 254 nm, built on Airgle's patented photocatalytic oxidation design (US 8,557,188 B2). It works after the filter, inactivating organisms captured on the media rather than replacing particle filtration. This UV-C stage is the part of the AG300 covered by its FDA clearance.
What room size is the AG300 rated for?
Airgle rates the AG300 at 288 sq ft at 2.5 air changes per hour and 144 sq ft at 5 ACH. Both assume a ceiling height of roughly 7.8 ft, so rooms with 9 or 10 ft ceilings need proportionally less floor area per unit. Size against the 5 ACH figure when you want faster turnover than general air cleaning.
How quiet is the AG300 on its lowest setting?
On low the AG300 runs at 32 dBA, which is quiet enough for a bedroom or a consultation room. At maximum speed it reaches 65 dBA. It has five fan speeds and a BLDC motor.
Does the AG300 require a smartphone to operate?
No. The AG300 has physical controls and a remote, and runs at all five fan speeds without a phone. The iOS and Android app is optional and adds remote control plus air quality monitoring.
