How Pure Water Window Cleaning Works
Pure water window cleaning uses deionized or reverse-osmosis-purified water — stripped of all dissolved minerals — delivered through a telescoping pole with a brush head to scrub and rinse window glass from ground level. Because pure water contains no dissolved solids, it leaves no mineral spotting or streaking as it evaporates — eliminating the need for a squeegee step that traditional window cleaning requires. The operator scrubs the glass with the water-fed brush, then rinses with a final pure water flush, and the glass dries clear. This process allows one operator to clean multi-story building exterior glass safely from the ground, eliminating ladder work or powered access equipment on most low- and mid-rise commercial buildings.
Pure Water Cleaning vs. Traditional Window Cleaning Methods
Traditional commercial window cleaning with squeegees requires ladder access or powered lift equipment for any glass above ground level, adding equipment cost, OSHA-regulated fall protection requirements, and public access disruption. Pure water pole systems reach 3rd- and 4th-floor glass — and beyond with extended pole sections — from ground level, with one operator cleaning glass that would require two-person ladder or lift operations under traditional methods. The productivity advantage compounds on large commercial buildings: a single operator with a water-fed pole system can clean 500–1,000 panes per day on multi-story buildings, compared to 200–400 panes per day with traditional ladder methods that include setup, repositioning, and access equipment management time.

Setting Up a Pure Water System
A pure water cleaning system requires three components: a water purification unit (DI resin tank, RO membrane, or combined system), a storage or supply tank, and the water-fed pole with brush and hose assembly. DI resin tanks are the simplest entry point — they remove dissolved minerals through ion exchange until the resin is exhausted, indicated by a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter reaching above 10 ppm. RO systems remove 90–95% of dissolved solids without consumable resin but require a waste water output. Combined RO/DI systems provide the longest resin life by doing the bulk of purification via membrane before the DI polishing stage. The right system depends on your local water hardness: very hard water exhausts DI resin quickly and makes an RO pre-stage economically necessary.
