No More Stressing About Safety or Compliance - Get a Negative Air Scrubber From US Cleaning Tools!

The whole point of an air scrubber is to protect employees and contain the contamination. That only works if the air pressure inside the work zone is lower than the pressure outside the work zone, which is why a negative air scrubber is non-negotiable for many jobs ranging from mold remediation to asbestos abatement.

Contaminated air would leak into every gap in your poly sheeting without a properly set up HEPA air scrubber. Independent contractors and large businesses alike trust US Cleaning Tools for the best air scrubbers from brands like Abatement Technologies, Air-Care, Aerospace America, and Novatek. You can shop with confidence here in our catalog.

Every scrubber on this page is specifically optimized for containment applications with ducting connections and motors meant to run around the clock. Many even have minihelic gauges or pressure alarms. Whether you’re looking for something that operates at 750 CFM or 3,500 CFM, you’ll find the right fit here in our collection.

Shopping at US Cleaning Tools means you get a full manufacturer warranty, free shipping, and hassle-free financing - backed by exceptional customer service from A to Z. Shop now and see for yourself why we’re the #1 choice for commercial air scrubbers for sale online.

Frequently asked questions

What does a negative air scrubber do?

It doesn’t let air escape from a space, so contamination stays contained. It does this by creating lower air pressure within the sealed work zone than outside it. You never have to worry about spores, fibers, and/or dust escaping the working environment and creating a separate mess (or liability) elsewhere in the building.

How to create negative pressure with an air scrubber?

Start by picking the right negative air scrubber from our collection. Once you have your equipment on hand, you’ll use poly sheeting to seal the work zone. Then, set the unit up with its exhaust ducted outside of the working area. The machine will pull air out faster than it comes back in, which is where the negative pressure comes from. Verify the differential using a manometer (IICRC S520 wants at least -0.02” WC relative to adjacent spaces).

What types of jobs call for a negative air scrubber?

Mold remediation, asbestos abatement, lead paint removal are the most common. Really, though, any renovation that could potentially disturb hazardous materials behind walls or above ceilings should create a containment zone with negative pressure just for peace of mind.

How do I size my air scrubber for creating negative pressure?

You have to know the total containment volume in the space (length x width x height). Multiply that by how many air changes you want to execute per hour (ACH). IICRC S520 recommends 4 ACH minimum, but most of our customers push this to 6 to be safe. For example, a 960 cubic foot space needs 96 CFM to achieve 6 ACH. Whether you need a mini air scrubber or a massive machine, we can point you in the right direction - just connect with our experts today.

How often should I schedule filter replacements?

Pre-filters could need daily swap-outs during heavy demolition work. Otherwise, between jobs is the standard protocol. The HEPA filter itself will last quite a bit longer. Watch out for airflow to drop as the filter gets clogged - that’s your sign it’s time to replace it.

Do I keep my air scrubber running in negative mode 24/7?

Yes, assuming you’re using it for abatement and remediation. This is required per IICRC S520. You’ll lose the pressure differential if you turn your negative air scrubber off overnight, and then your job site is vulnerable to cross-contamination.
