Get Peace of Mind With the Best Air Scrubbers For Asbestos Online

Harmful fibers go airborne the moment you disturb building materials in structures built before the 1980s. That’s why OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 mandates negative-pressure enclosures with HEPA filtration on every regulated abatement job. The fines for non-compliance are severe.

The good news is you’re in the right place for air scrubbers for asbestos. All the air scrubbers for sale on this page have been handpicked by our team of experts after careful inspection, so you can rest assured you’re getting the best value for your money.

These devices maintain that negative air pressure by sucking contaminated air through a HEPA filter stack that traps 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns (for context, asbestos fibers are between 1-5 microns - well within that range).

Shop the latest and greatest models from Abatement Technologies and Novatek for dedicated abatement work. Or, get more versatile units for general restoration jobs from XPower.

We have the right commercial air scrubber for you no matter the scale of your job, with CFMs ranging from just 550 for single-room enclosures to 4,000+ for full-facilities teardowns. You don’t have to figure out which machine is right for your operation, either. Our team is here to help you pick the right one based on working environment, room size, and budget.

Your order comes protected by a full manufacturer's warranty, and we ship free as well. Get in touch today and discover the US Cleaning Tools difference!

Frequently asked questions

Can you tell if asbestos is in the air?

Not by sight or smell - that’s what makes it so dangerous. You have to get PCM air sampling during active work or TEM analysis for clearance testing afterward. OSHA requires ongoing monitoring for the entire duration of asbestos projects.

Do air scrubbers work on asbestos?

Yes. A HEPA air scrubber is incredibly efficient at capturing asbestos fibers because they fall well above the 0.3 micron filtration threshold. They also keep contaminated air inside the containment zone and out of clean areas. You can get a negative air scrubber here at US Cleaning Tools to protect your employees and stay compliant with OSHA requirements.

How long to run an air scrubber for asbestos?

You’ll keep it on through the entire duration of your project, all the way through to final clearance testing. OSHA and EPA both mandate negative pressure from start to finish. Only once the room has below 0.01 f/cc (confirmed via clearance sampling) is the job complete.

What is the best air scrubber for asbestos removal?

You can’t go wrong with a machine from Abatement Technologies. This is the gold standard in an air scrubber for asbestos with HEPA-AIRE machines (PAS1700 at 1,650 CFM, PAS5000 at 4,000 CFM) purpose-built for negative air containment. But any machine you see here on this page has passed our internal inspection process, so it’s a good candidate. We often recommend XPOWER and Novatek for smaller jobs.

How do I size an asbestos air scrubber?

Calculate the total cubic footage of the zone and multiply that number by the number of air changes you want to complete per hour (minimum 4, some contractors go as high as 6 for peace of mind, though). That number is your CFM requirement. You may need to stack multiple machines if a single unit doesn’t cover it.

Should my team still wear masks with an air scrubber running?

Yes, always. Air scrubbers can reduce asbestos fiber concentrations within the containment zone, but they’re not a replacement for PPE. OSHA requires asbestos-rated respirators as well (P100 minimum, PAPR for Class I work).

How do I care for my air scrubber to keep it running well?

Replace pre-filters between shifts as they can get clogged faster than you think. HEPA filters last longer but should be replaced on the manufacturer’s recommended schedule, or when you notice airflow starting to decline. Wipe the exterior down after every job. That’s pretty much it!
