+1 (978) 295-7538X-8 Confined Space Fan — 1200 CFM Ventilation and Exhaust for Manholes, Sewers, and Tight Access Areas
The XPOWER X-8 is a 1/3 HP induction motor fan rated at 1,200 CFM that functions as both a forced-air blower and an exhaust fan — two operating modes in one unit, which matters when confined space entry protocols require both fresh-air supply and contaminated-air extraction during a job. At 2.5 amps on a standard 115V circuit, it draws significantly less power than comparable centrifugal blowers, allowing multiple units to run on the same circuit during large-scale ventilation setups. The 13.5 lb ABS housing is stackable and light enough for one-person transport into manholes, utility vaults, and subterranean access points where a heavy steel fan is impractical.
X-8 Motor Output, Variable Speed Range, and Power Efficiency
The induction motor design runs cooler and lasts longer under continuous operation than brush-motor alternatives — relevant for jobs where the fan runs for several hours during atmospheric testing and confined space entry.
- 1,200 CFM at 1/3 HP — delivers measurable air movement in manholes, utility vaults, and below-grade tunnels where CFM determines how quickly hazardous atmosphere is diluted or cleared
- Variable speed control (1,100–3,300 RPM) — dial down airflow for enclosed spaces where maximum CFM would disturb work surfaces or create turbulence; run at full speed for rapid pre-entry purging
- 2.5-amp draw — runs on a standard 15-amp circuit alongside other equipment; low enough to run two units on one 15-amp circuit for supply-and-exhaust configurations
- Dual thermal protection — automatically shuts off if motor temperature exceeds safe operating limits during extended continuous-use sessions
- 20 ft power cord with wrap-around storage — reaches from a ground-level outlet down into a standard-depth manhole without an extension cord
- Injection-molded ABS housing — resists impact and moisture exposure in below-grade environments; stackable for transport and storage with multiple units
X-8 Applications and Environments
Confined space entry teams in municipal utilities — water, sewer, and electrical — use the X-8 to purge hazardous gases (hydrogen sulfide, methane) before entry and to maintain continuous fresh-air supply during the work period. Restoration contractors use it for structure drying ventilation in tight attic spaces, crawlspaces, and below-grade mechanical rooms where larger drying fans cannot fit. Pest control operators use it to ventilate treated spaces after chemical application in enclosed building areas. The dual blower/exhaust mode means the same unit that supplies fresh air on entry can be reversed for exhaust-mode clearance after chemical or gas treatment — reducing the equipment count crews carry to the job site. Optional ducting accessories extend the airflow up to 125 ft into confined areas too narrow for the unit itself.
X-8 ETL/CETL Certification and Confined Space Compliance
The X-8 is ETL and CETL certified, meeting UL and CSA safety standards for use in North American commercial and industrial environments. For confined space entry under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 (permit-required confined spaces), the X-8 provides the continuous forced-air ventilation required to maintain safe atmospheric conditions during entry. The 1-year limited warranty covers the motor and housing. Not rated for use in classified (explosion-proof) environments — see the XPOWER line for intrinsically safe options if required by your jobsite classification.

Shipping & Returns
Free shipping on most brands for orders over $300, delivered to the lower 48 states. Any brand-specific freight rate is shown at checkout before you pay.
Processing & delivery: in-stock orders are processed within 1–2 business days and typically deliver in 5–7 business days. Tracking is emailed within 24 hours of shipment. Built-to-order and backordered equipment shows its lead time on this page.
Freight deliveries: inspect your equipment on arrival and note any damage on the delivery receipt. Items damaged in transit or defective on arrival are fully covered at no cost to you.
Cancellations: cancel any time before your order ships. Refunds are issued for the order total minus the non-refundable payment processing fee (2.9% + $0.30), so a cancellation is not always a 100% refund. No fee is deducted if we cancel the order or the item arrives damaged or defective.
30-day returns: return unused equipment in its original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Change-of-mind returns are subject to a restocking fee. To start a return, email info@uscleaningtools.com or call +1 (978) 295-7538.
