TC8650 Mini thermal imaging camera fits in a pocket and works without a phone. You can capture and save images on the camera and view them on its 2.4 in screen. Designed for residential and light commercial work, it has a 128 x 128 infrared sensor with TISR processing that upscales the image to 240 x 240. It works in the 8 to 14 μm spectral band with a 12 μm pixel.
TC8650 Mini Sensor, Ranges and Image Storage
Use the normal range for building inspections and the high range for hot electrical and mechanical parts. Together, the ranges cover -4 to 842°F (-20 to 450°C). Transfer saved images over USB-C when you finish.
- No Phone Required — capture, view and save images on the camera itself.
- Temperature Ranges — normal range -4 to 302°F (-20 to 150°C), high range 302 to 842°F (150 to 450°C).
- Sensitivity and Accuracy — thermal sensitivity under 40 mK, 0.1°C resolution, accuracy ±2°C or ±3% of reading, whichever is larger.
- Storage and Charging — 512 MB of storage, with USB Type-C for file transfer and charging the 2,900 mAh battery.
- Distance Correction and Tripod Mount — enter the actual distance, up to 5 m, for a corrected temperature; a 1/4-20 UNC tripod hole allows hands-free readings.
TC8650 Mini Applications in Homes and Light Commercial Buildings
Electricians use the TC8650 Mini thermal imaging camera to scan panels, breakers and connections. HVAC technicians trace supply runs and check equipment, while home energy auditors look for temperature differences around windows, doors and walls. For restoration contractors and building inspectors, surface temperature patterns can point to moisture or leaks that need confirmation with a moisture meter. Facility managers can also use the camera during preventive maintenance rounds in small offices and retail spaces. The Mini measures surface temperature only; it cannot see through glass, walls or water. Mount it on a tripod using the 1/4-20 UNC hole for a steady, hands-free view of an electrical panel, breaker box or rooftop air handler. The shutter refreshes every 30 seconds with an audible click. You can turn automatic refresh off in settings when you need quiet.
