Orion 950 smart moisture meter measures wood moisture without pins and reads ambient temperature and relative humidity. Switch between shallow and deep measurement modes to check the wood, then use automatic equilibrium moisture content (EMC), dew point, and GPP/GPK calculations to assess room conditions. Send readings over Bluetooth to the free FloorSmart or Woodshop MC apps.
Orion 950 Dual-Depth Readings and Data Collection
The pinless sensor measures inside wood at a selectable depth of 0.25 in or 0.75 in without leaving pin holes. The wood moisture content range is 4.0% to 32.0%, with slight variation by species setting. The specific gravity range is 0.20-1.0 SG.
- No Pin Holes in Finished Wood — Scan a 2.0 x 2.5 in sensing area without puncturing the wood.
- Read the Room Along With the Wood — Built-in temperature and humidity sensing supports automatic EMC, dew point, and grains per pound or kilogram calculations.
- Keep a Record on the Meter — Save 100 readings through manual or automatic data collection. View statistics on the meter or send readings over Bluetooth to the free apps.
- Log Without Watching the Screen — Store readings without watching the display, including when using the Meter Reach Extender. The ON/HOLD button holds a reading for review.
- Recalibrate on Site — Recalibrate with the paired On-Demand Calibrator without returning the meter to the factory.
- Check Drywall and Sheet Goods — Check materials such as drywall, plywood, OSB, and MDF on a 0-100 measurement scale.
Orion 950 Applications for Flooring, Woodshops, and Inspections
During flooring acclimation, installers can use the Orion 950 smart moisture meter to check wood moisture alongside room conditions. Woodshops can check wood without leaving pin holes and review saved readings with on-meter statistics. For inspections that include drywall or OSB, switch to the relative scale; those readings are distinct from wood moisture content measurements. When working on flooring in homes, offices, and retail spaces, use the adjustable backlit display and press-to-hold function to review readings at the meter, or transfer them over Bluetooth for app-based records.
