Floor Sentry wood floor data logger fits in a routed cavity on the underside of a finished wood floor plank. Its top and bottom sensors measure temperature and relative humidity in the wood floor and at the subfloor or underlayment. Installers, flooring contractors and facility managers can review those readings in the free Wagner Sentry app. The app connects over Bluetooth and includes graphs and user-set alarm thresholds for iOS or Android phones.
Floor Sentry Readings Beneath the Surface
Room readings describe ambient conditions. Floor Sentry measures conditions inside the floor assembly. Pair it with Smart Logger V2 in the app to view both together.
- Measure conditions inside the floor — Top and bottom sensors measure temperature and RH in the wood floor and at the subfloor or underlayment.
- Review past readings — Floor Sentry stores 16,384 readings. Graphs in the Wagner Sentry app let contractors review how floor conditions have changed.
- Set alarm thresholds — Choose RH and temperature alarm thresholds in the app. Alerts require the phone to be within Bluetooth range, with a typical read range of up to 20 ft (6 m).
- Check battery health — The pre-installed battery pack lasts up to 8 years, depending on logging frequency. The app displays a battery health indicator.
- Install beneath a plank — Installation requires a routed underside cavity and a butyl seal. Minimum plank thickness is 1/2 in; use a 0.5 in plunge router bit and leave at least 1/8 in of top flooring above the cavity.
Floor Sentry Applications for Installers and Facility Managers
Installers can fit the Floor Sentry wood floor data logger during wood flooring installation in homes, offices or retail facilities. Flooring contractors can consult the recorded temperature and RH conditions when assessing warranty claims. Facility managers can review conditions beneath finished wood flooring in the app and compare them with ambient conditions when paired with Smart Logger V2. Plan placement at one per 1,000 sq ft, at least one per level and one per radiant heating zone. RH of 90% or higher can damage the device and voids the warranty.
