The Therma-Steem XL1 is a fixed-installation industrial steam cleaner built for continuous round-the-clock operation. At 155 PSI and 365°F with a 20kW incoloy heating element, it generates 55 lbs of steam per hour from a 5-gallon stainless steel boiler backed by a 7-gallon stainless steel reserve tank. The continuous-fill design means zero downtime between refills. Requires 480V, 3-phase power (26 amps) — for facilities that cannot provide 3-phase, see the propane Ultra series.
Therma-Steem XL1 Steam Output, PSI, and Operating Conditions
The XL1 targets industrial environments where steam needs to reach inside conveyors, food processing equipment, and machinery with complex geometry — the 25 ft stainless steel hose with gun and multiple brush configurations allow access where pressure washing cannot reach.
155 PSI output pressure — 10.7 bar; penetrates grease, biofilm, and industrial grime on equipment surfaces and in crevices
365°F maximum temperature — above the 212°F thermal sanitization threshold by 153°F; kills most pathogens on contact without chemicals
55 lbs of steam per hour — 20kW incoloy heating element maintains consistent output during extended continuous operation
Continuous-fill design — 7-gallon reserve tank feeds the 5-gallon boiler without shutdown; fill the reserve while steam generation continues
97% dry vapor steam — low moisture content allows use around electrical components and in food processing environments without surface flooding
All stainless steel construction — 5-gallon boiler with lifetime warranty; 10" rubber wheels and 5" locking wheels for positioning stability
XL1 Applications and Environments
Food processing facilities use the XL1 for conveyor cleaning, food contact surface sanitation, and equipment degreasing where chemical residue cannot remain — the 97% dry vapor leaves no chemical contamination and meets USDA requirements for food processing environments. Automotive manufacturing plants and airline maintenance facilities clean engine components, chassis areas, and ground service equipment with the 25 ft hose and rotating brush attachments. Military maintenance depots and KOSHER-certified food operations (where chemical sanitizers create compliance issues) use it as a primary sanitation platform. The 24/7 operational design suits three-shift production environments where downtime is not an option.
XL1 Steam Temperature, PSI, and Dry-Steam Output
Boiler temperature reaches 365°F (185°C) with 155 PSI output pressure (10.7 bar). Steam dryness: 97% — only 3% moisture content in the vapor, critical for electrical component cleaning and avoiding surface flooding. The XL1 is not an OSHA-classified steam pressure vessel (operates below the threshold requiring third-party pressure vessel certification). Electrical requirement: 480V, 3-phase, 26 amps — also available in 220V or 575V upon request. Ships with a full accessory kit including 25 ft SS hose, trigger gun, multiple brush types, squeegee, wand extensions, microfiber cloths, and safety equipment.

What is the output pressure and temperature of the Therma-Steem XL1?
The XL1 produces 155 PSI (10.7 bar) at 365°F (185°C). This is 153°F above the 212°F thermal sanitization threshold — sufficient to kill most pathogens on contact without chemical sanitizers.
Does the XL1 require shutdown to refill with water?
No. The continuous-fill design uses a 7-gallon stainless steel reserve tank that feeds the 5-gallon boiler — you refill the reserve tank while steam generation continues at full pressure and temperature. There is no production shutdown for refills.
What power supply does the Therma-Steem XL1 require?
The standard XL1 requires 480V, 3-phase, 26 amps. It is also available in 220V and 575V configurations upon request at time of order. Single-phase power is not supported — facilities without 3-phase power should consider the propane-fired Ultra 250 or Ultra 600.
What does 97% dry vapor steam mean?
97% dry vapor means only 3% of the steam output is liquid water droplets — 97% is vapor. This low moisture content allows use around electrical components and in food contact environments without flooding surfaces or leaving standing water.
How much steam does the XL1 produce per hour?
The 20kW incoloy heating element generates 55 lbs of steam per hour during continuous operation. This output is sustained through the continuous-fill design without degradation over extended shifts.
What is included in the accessory kit with the XL1?
The XL1 ships with: 25 ft SS hose with trigger gun, 20" and 36" wand extensions, multiple brush types (brass, nylon, SS in multiple sizes), handheld squeegee, floor brush, zero-degree blast attachment, microfiber cloths, gloves, and safety glasses — a complete operating kit.

Perfect vacuum cleaner
Perfect vacuum cleaner. Well made , goes around chair & table legs easily
Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
