Uprights rarely fail at the brush roll. They fail when fine debris works its way into the motor, which is why a sealed motor chamber is the specification worth paying for. The 9000 has one, behind a 12 amp motor moving 109 CFM, with a stainless steel brush roll instead of a plastic one and a brush roll control dial so the machine can be set for the surface underneath it.
