The DC-19-2000 is Mercury's 19" high-speed burnisher running at 2000 RPM — the same motor and speed as the 20" and 21" DC models in this series, in a footprint that navigates tighter spaces more easily. The 1.5 HP D/C rectified motor eliminates the burnout and startup torque issues common in AC-motor burnishers. The front caster assembly with flexible pad holder maintains even pad pressure across the full 19" width, and the polished aluminum chassis adds machine weight that seats the pad firmly against the floor without operator effort.
DC-19-2000 Motor, Chassis, and Pad Pressure System
Motor: 1.5 HP D/C rectified, 15 Amp — eliminates low-voltage burnout and startup torque
Speed: 2000 RPM — high-speed burnishing for gloss restoration on VCT, sealed concrete, and linoleum
Apron size: 19" with full-wrap non-marking bumpers
Pad pressure: front caster with flexible pad holder and threaded pad-centering device
Power cord: 50-ft. 14/3-gauge safety cord, handle-base connection
Where the DC-19-2000 Gets Used
The 19" apron is the most common burnisher size in commercial janitorial use because it fits through standard doorways (36" minimum clear width) without the clearance adjustments the 20" and 21" machines occasionally require. Grocery store service corridors, office hallways, school gymnasiums, and hospital corridors are typical applications. At 2000 RPM on VCT, it can restore a wet-look gloss finish in a single burnishing pass after a spray-buff application, cutting total floor maintenance time compared to multi-pass operations at lower RPM.
Pro Application Details for the DC-19-2000
At 2000 RPM, pad selection is critical: use white, tan, or natural fiber burnishing pads. Aggressive pads (black or green) at this speed will remove finish, not polish it. The front caster assembly does the pad pressure work — the operator guides the machine without pushing down on the handle, which would lift the front caster and create uneven pad contact. The interlock switch stops the machine the moment the handle is released, which is important for operator safety in active commercial environments. All DC-series Mercury burnishers in 19", 20", and 21" share the same motor; choose the size based on the primary spaces the machine will work in.
What pads should I use with the Mercury DC-19-2000?
Use white, tan, or natural fiber burnishing pads at 2000 RPM. Scrubbing pads (black, green, blue) are designed for 175–300 RPM low-speed operations and will damage floor finish if used at 2000 RPM.
How does the DC-19-2000 compare to the DC-19-1170?
Both models have a 19" apron and the same 1.5 HP DC motor; the difference is speed. The DC-19-2000 runs at 2000 RPM and produces a higher-gloss, wet-look finish. The DC-19-1170 runs at 1170 RPM and produces a softer gloss — appropriate for facilities that burnish frequently and prefer a less aggressive heat cycle on the finish.
What floor surfaces does the DC-19-2000 work on?
The DC-19-2000 works on VCT, sealed concrete, linoleum, and other hard floor surfaces with a finish coat. At 2000 RPM, friction heat re-spreads existing finish polymers to restore gloss. Do not use it on bare concrete or floors without a finish coat, as there is no polymer to melt and redistribute.
Why does the DC-19-2000 use a D/C rectified motor?
D/C rectified motors convert incoming AC power to DC, which provides more consistent torque and better protection against low-voltage conditions and startup torque spikes. This reduces motor burnout risk in buildings with fluctuating power supply, which is common in older commercial facilities.
How heavy is the Mercury DC-19-2000?
The DC-19-2000 weighs 84 lbs. This machine weight is intentional — the heavier aluminum chassis improves pad seating and produces a brighter, more uniform gloss compared to lighter burnisher designs.
What does the front caster assembly do on the DC-19-2000?
The front caster assembly is a small roller at the front of the machine that supports the chassis weight independently of the pad. This keeps the pad flat against the floor without requiring the operator to push down or pull back on the handle, which would tilt the pad and create uneven gloss.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
