Commercial-Grade 15" XHD Scrubbing and Stripping With the Hawk F25-05
The Hawk F25-05 15" Extra Heavy Duty Professional Floor Machine runs a 1.5 HP twin-capacitor AC motor through triple-planetary 10:1 helical-cut industrial XHD gears at 165 RPM. At 90 lb with a 15" pad driver and 14" pad size, it covers wide floor areas with consistent torque for stripping, scrubbing, and surface prep. The machine draws 5.6 amps, operates at 66 dB GS42-compliant levels, and is UL/CUL listed. An optional DX package adds a 4-gallon solution tank, splash guard, chrome motor, and premium pad driver for wet scrubbing configurations.
Twin Capacitor Motor and XHD Drive System
1.5 HP twin-capacitor AC motor, 66 frame — dual capacitors improve startup torque and maintain consistent speed under load, reducing motor stress during sustained scrubbing operations
Triple-planetary 10:1 helical-cut XHD industrial gears — extra-heavy-duty rated gear system with case-hardened steel coupler handles the torque of 165 RPM operation under full machine weight
15" pad driver covering a 14" pad — wider cleaning path than 13" machines reduces total passes required on large open floor areas
All-steel welded frame with powder coating — 90 lb construction resists flex on uneven floors and provides natural down-pressure for effective scrubbing without additional weights
50 ft SJTOW industrial cord — oil-resistant jacket protects against chemical exposure common in floor care environments
Commercial and Industrial Cleaning Applications
Facilities managers and commercial cleaning contractors use the F25-05 as the primary floor maintenance machine in medium-to-large commercial spaces including office buildings, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and retail stores. At 165 RPM, it strips floor finish, scrubs grout, and prepares surfaces for recoating. UL/CUL listing and GS42 certification at 66 dB make it compliant for use in hospitals, schools, and government buildings that require both electrical safety certification and occupancy noise standards. The DX package upgrade adds wet scrubbing capability without purchasing a separate machine.
UL/CUL and GS42 Compliance
The F25-05 is UL/CUL listed and GS42 compliant at 66 dB. The machine ships with chrome steel handle, variable position lock, vinyl foam grips, dual steel triggers, thumb safety switch, non-marking 1" x 5" ball-bearing wheels, and 50 ft SJTOW cord. Available in 115V or 230V configurations. The optional DX package adds chrome motor, 4-gallon solution tank, splash guard, and premium pad driver.
What is a twin-capacitor motor and why does it matter on the Hawk F25-05?
A twin-capacitor motor uses two capacitors — one for starting and one for running — providing higher startup torque and more consistent operating speed under variable loads. The running capacitor keeps the motor running efficiently at full load, which is important for extended scrubbing and stripping sessions. Single-capacitor motors can experience speed drop when pad resistance increases.
How does the F25-05 XHD compare to the F35-05-B Brute at 15"?
The F25-05 XHD uses a 66-frame twin-capacitor motor at 90 lb — designed for commercial cleaning and heavy stripping. The F35-05-B Brute uses a 180-frame TEFC motor at 117 lb — designed for severe-duty applications like concrete resurfacing and stone polishing. The Brute is the upgrade for contractors doing surface prep work; the XHD is the right choice for professional cleaning and floor maintenance.
What does the SJTOW power cord designation mean?
SJTOW is a power cord rating indicating the cord is designed for hard service use with oil-resistant outer jacket. The S stands for Service cord, J means rated for 300V, T is thermoplastic insulation, O means oil-resistant outer jacket, and W means oil-resistant both inner and outer. The oil-resistant jacket protects against floor care chemical exposure during routine cleaning operations.
Can the F25-05 be ordered in 230V configuration?
Yes. The F25-05 is available in both 115V and 230V configurations. International facilities and facilities with 230V service should specify the voltage when ordering. The twin-capacitor motor specifications remain identical between voltage versions.
What floor types can the Hawk F25-05 handle?
At 165 RPM with XHD gearing, the F25-05 handles VCT stripping and scrubbing, vinyl tile maintenance, terrazzo polishing, concrete surface prep, and ceramic tile grout scrubbing. The 15" cleaning path covers about 25% more area per pass than the 13" XHD model, making it more efficient on open floor areas like corridors, lobbies, and large restrooms.
Is the F25-05 DX upgrade available at the time of purchase?
The DX package can be ordered with the machine or as a separate retrofit. The DX includes chrome motor cover, 4-gallon solution tank, splash guard, and premium pad driver. Ordering the DX configuration at initial purchase is less expensive than buying components separately as accessories.
What maintenance does the Hawk F25-05 require?
Routine maintenance includes checking the power cord for damage before each use, cleaning under the machine skirt after wet applications, and inspecting the pad driver for wear. The triple-planetary XHD gears are sealed and do not require routine lubrication. The twin-capacitor motor has no brushes to replace, reducing maintenance compared to DC brush motors.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
