Heavy-Duty 175 RPM Scrubbing in a 13" Compact Frame
The Hawk F13-01 13" Heavy Duty Professional Floor Machine runs a 1.5 HP dual-capacitor AC motor through triple-planetary XHD 11:1 helical-cut industrial gears at a steady 175 RPM. Weighing 87 lb with a 13" pad driver, it delivers full-size floor machine power into spaces that cannot accommodate larger units. The 66 dB operating noise meets GS42 standards for occupied-facility use. An optional DX package adds a 4-gallon solution tank, splash guard, chrome motor, and premium pad driver for wet scrubbing applications.
F13-01 Motor, Gear, and Frame Details
1.5 HP dual-capacitor AC motor, 66 frame — draws 5.5 amps and maintains 175 RPM under sustained scrubbing and stripping loads without thermal cutout
Triple-planetary XHD 11:1 helical-cut industrial gears — XHD rating means extra-heavy-duty gears engineered for continuous commercial use, not light-duty cleaning
Powder-coated steel frame at 87 lbs — compact 13" footprint cleans stairwells, restrooms, and tight corridors where maneuverability matters more than width
Dual steel triggers with thumb safety switch — both hands must engage triggers for the machine to run, preventing accidental startup
50 ft 12-3 SJT industrial power cord — full-length cord with molded plug reaches across large rooms without extension cord chains
Commercial Environments and Use Cases
Hotels use the 13" HD for corridor maintenance and room touch-ups between deep cleaning cycles. Schools deploy it in restrooms and locker rooms where 17" machines cannot turn. Healthcare facilities use it for patient-area scrubbing during occupied hours, relying on the 66 dB noise compliance. Industrial plants use it for spot cleaning and maintenance around equipment where floor space is limited. The optional DX package converts the F13-01 into a fully self-contained wet scrubbing system without purchasing a separate machine — the 4-gallon tank and splash guard allow continuous chemical application across large tiled areas.
UL/CUL Listing and Included Equipment
The F13-01 is UL/CUL listed. The base machine ships with chrome steel handle, variable lock position, vinyl-dipped foam grips, dual steel triggers, thumb safety switch, non-marking 1" x 5" ball-bearing wheels, and 50 ft cord. The optional DX upgrade adds chrome motor, 4-gallon solution tank, splash guard, and premium pad driver.
What is the difference between the HD (F13-01) and XHD (F23-01) Hawk 13" models?
The F13-01 HD uses 10:1 helical-cut gears and draws 5.5 amps at 175 RPM. The F23-01 XHD uses extra-heavy-duty 11:1 gears and draws 5.3 amps at 165 RPM. The XHD model is slower but provides more torque for demanding surface prep like concrete resurfacing. The HD model at 175 RPM is better suited for scrubbing, spray buffing, and routine maintenance.
Can the F13-01 be upgraded to the DX package later?
The DX package components — 4-gallon solution tank, splash guard, chrome motor cover, and premium pad driver — can be purchased separately and retrofitted. Ordering the F13-01-DX version from the start is typically less expensive than buying components individually.
What floor surfaces can the Hawk 13" HD clean at 175 RPM?
At 175 RPM, the F13-01 handles VCT scrubbing and stripping, vinyl tile maintenance, terrazzo polishing, ceramic tile grout scrubbing, and concrete surface prep. Pad selection determines the application: black for stripping, green for scrubbing, red for spray buffing, white for polishing.
How does the dual-trigger safety system work on the F13-01?
The F13-01 uses two steel triggers that must both be held down simultaneously for the motor to run. Releasing either trigger cuts power immediately. A thumb-operated safety interlock on the handle must also be engaged. This three-point safety system prevents uncontrolled machine movement if the operator loses grip.
What is the noise level of the F13-01 and why does it matter?
The F13-01 operates at 66 dB, meeting the GS42 international noise compliance standard. At 66 dB, the machine is quieter than a typical conversation and is approved for daytime cleaning in hospitals, hotels, schools, and offices. Many facilities require GS42 certification before allowing equipment use during occupied hours.
How heavy is the Hawk F13-01 and is it easy to transport?
The F13-01 weighs 87 lb. It includes 1" x 5" non-marking ball-bearing wheels that allow rolling transport between jobs. For stair access or vehicle loading, two people are recommended. The chrome handle folds for compact storage.
Is the Hawk F13-01 available in sizes other than 13"?
Yes. The HD line is available in 13", 15", 17", and 20" pad driver sizes. All share the same 1.5 HP dual-capacitor motor and helical-cut gear system. Teams maintaining a range of facility types often run the 13" in restrooms and the 17" or 20" on open floor areas.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
