Cutting is different from grinding: the wheel is buried in the material and the dust leaves in a jet. The 7-inch CutBuddie encloses the wheel on a 6- to 9-inch angle grinder, holds a set depth, and captures up to 99% of the dust at the cut.
D1750 Depth Control and Grinder Fit
Depth adjustment is what makes a cutting shroud usable on tuckpointing.
- Adjustable cutting depth to 1.5 inches — set once and repeat the same joint depth down a wall
- Fits most 6" to 9" angle grinders — collar range 1.8 to 3 inches
- Takes a 7" wheel — the standard size for crack chasing and mortar joints
- Captures up to 99% of airborne dust — enclosure plus vacuum draw at the wheel
- Polycarbonate body with metal baseplate — the baseplate takes the wear against masonry
- 1.25" port with 18" adapter hose included — connects to a shop or HEPA vacuum out of the box
D1750 Applications and Environments
Masonry contractors use it for tuckpointing and mortar joint removal, concrete crews for crack chasing before repair, and tile setters for cutting ceramic, porcelain and stone. Dustless specifies 25 CFM of vacuum per inch of wheel diameter for full capture, so a 7-inch wheel wants roughly 175 CFM at the vacuum. It ships with the CutBuddie, an 18" adapter hose, a 5/8" arbor extender with adapter, three spacing washers and a releasable tie, and it is designed to help contractors meet OSHA's respirable crystalline silica standard (29 CFR 1926.1153) when paired with an appropriately rated vacuum.
