Bio Cart 10 Containment for Above-Ceiling Work in Occupied Buildings

The Bio Cart 10 puts a sealed, negative-pressure work space around a technician so ceiling tiles can come down in a live corridor without dust reaching patients, staff, or equipment. A 12 ft telescoping ladder, interior lighting, and a duplex outlet are built in, so one person rolls up, seals to the ceiling, and works. Compared with poly sheeting and a portable scrubber, setup is a single lift cycle instead of a taped enclosure that has to be rebuilt at every new location.

Bio Cart 10 Lift, Seal, and Air Handling

The cart does two jobs at once: it contains the work zone mechanically and it keeps that zone under negative pressure while the tile is open.

  • Dual lift with foam top seal — bellows rise from 3 in collapsed to meet ceilings between 7 ft and 10 ft 2 in, sealing the perimeter so debris cannot fall into the room
  • 880 CFM HEPA scrubber — up to six air changes per minute inside the enclosure, with filtered air exhausted low and diffused so it does not scatter paperwork on nearby desks
  • Two-stage filtration — an electrostatic disposable pad catches bulk debris ahead of the 99.97% at 0.3 micron HEPA, so the expensive element is not loaded by drywall dust
  • 77 in collapsed height — clears standard door frames and elevator cabs, so the cart reaches upper floors without disassembly
  • Externally visible IN USE light — signals the corridor that the enclosure is sealed and under negative pressure
  • Keyfob lift remote — raises and lowers the top from outside the cart when the operator wants eyes on the bellows seal
  • Wipe-down interior — extruded aluminum frame with white melamine walls and a thermal coating skin, so the cart is sanitized between rooms

Bio Cart 10 Applications and Environments

Hospitals and outpatient clinics use the Bio Cart 10 for fire and smoke sensor testing, IT and fiber pulls, light fixture and ballast changes, and HVAC component access in corridors that stay open to traffic. It is built to the guidance for portable negative-air dust containment carts in healthcare facilities, covering ICRA Class 1 through 4 work along with CDC and OSHA direction on controlling dust and infectious particulate during maintenance above the ceiling. Clean rooms, laboratories, data centers, and pharmacy compounding areas apply the same logic where an open ceiling would otherwise mean shutting the space down. The cart weighs 450 lbs with the ladder and filters installed and ships on a pallet at 36 in W x 75 in L x 86 in H. Air-Care covers the Bio Cart with a five-year warranty, with shorter periods on specific components.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ceiling heights does the Bio Cart 10 reach?
The dual lift system raises the bellows for ceilings from 7 ft up to 10 ft 2 in. Collapsed height is 77 in, so the cart clears standard doorways and elevators, and fully extended height is 120 in.
How much air does the Bio Cart 10 scrubber move?
The onboard scrubber fan moves 880 CFM at 300 watts and reaches up to six air changes per minute inside the enclosure. Filtered air exhausts out the bottom in a diffused pattern so it does not scatter paperwork on nearby desks.
Does the Bio Cart 10 meet ICRA requirements?
Air-Care builds the Bio Cart HEPA 10 to the health and safety guidance for portable negative-air dust containment carts used in healthcare facilities, covering ICRA Class 1 through 4 work along with CDC and OSHA guidance for controlling dust during above-ceiling maintenance.
What filtration does the Bio Cart 10 use?
Air passes through an electrostatic disposable pad pre-filter and then a HEPA filter rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns. The pre-filter catches bulk debris so the HEPA element lasts longer.
Is a ladder included with the Bio Cart 10?
Yes. A 12 ft telescoping ladder is built into the cart, so a technician works from inside the sealed enclosure without staging a separate ladder in the corridor.
How heavy is the Bio Cart 10 and how does it ship?
The cart weighs 450 lbs with the ladder and air scrubber filters installed. It ships on a pallet at 36 in W x 75 in L x 86 in H and 645 lbs, and this order qualifies for free shipping.
