Novair Air Scrubbers and Negative Air Machines

Novair is Novatek's air filtration line for containment and remediation work. The Novair 700 covers 200 to 700 CFM in both 115V and 230V builds. The Novair 1000 runs at 1,000 CFM, offered with HEPA or standard filtration and in versions carrying an alarm and light for filter monitoring. At the top of the range, the Novair 2000-BIO moves 2,000 CFM on a 2 HP motor. Ducted to an exterior exhaust, these units hold a containment area under negative pressure so contaminated air cannot migrate into occupied space. Run in recirculation, the same machine scrubs airborne particulate from an open work area. Size the unit to containment volume and the air changes per hour your protocol calls for.

Needle Scalers and Surface Removal Equipment

Novatek needle scalers strip rust, coatings, and weld slag from steel and concrete with reciprocating needle bundles. Needles, chisels, and needle holders are consumables on any sustained descaling job, and the catalog carries them alongside the tools. Floor and surface removal equipment covers concrete preparation, and water cannon units handle high-volume surface rinsing.

Dust Shrouds and OSHA Silica Compliance

Novatek dust shrouds connect angle grinders and sanders to a HEPA vacuum and capture silica dust where it is generated rather than after it goes airborne. This satisfies the engineering control requirement in OSHA's construction silica standard, 29 CFR 1926.1153. Grinding with a shroud and HEPA vacuum is a Table 1 listed control for concrete surface grinding, which places a contractor in presumptive compliance without air sampling. Match the shroud to your grinder size and hose diameter, and pair it with a HEPA-filtered vacuum rather than a shop vacuum, as the standard requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do Novatek dustless tools work?
Novatek shrouds attach to angle grinders, orbital sanders, and reciprocating tools and connect to a HEPA vacuum. The shroud surrounds the work surface and the vacuum captures silica-containing dust at the point it is created, before it becomes airborne. This is source capture, the engineering control OSHA calls for on concrete work.
Do Novatek shrouds meet OSHA silica rules?
Yes. Grinding with a shroud and HEPA vacuum is listed on OSHA Table 1 for concrete surface grinding under the construction silica standard 1926.1153, so contractors using this method are in presumptive compliance without air sampling. The shroud must be paired with a HEPA vacuum, not a standard shop vacuum, to qualify.
How do I match a Novatek shroud to my tool?
Match the shroud to the tool arbor size and the material. Angle-grinder shrouds fit 4, 4.5, and 7-inch grinders in cup-wheel and disc configurations, and sanding shrouds fit random-orbital and belt sanders. All use standard 1.5-inch or 2-inch vacuum hose fittings.
Why do I need a HEPA vacuum and not a shop vacuum?
A standard shop vacuum passes fine silica dust straight through its filter and back into the air, which defeats the control. A HEPA vacuum captures 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles and retains the respirable silica, which is what the OSHA Table 1 method requires.

Brio Air Filtration = Game Changer

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.

It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.

An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.

We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides,allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.

A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
