LGR Dehumidifiers for Water Damage Restoration

Standard refrigerant dehumidifiers stop working effectively below 65°F and struggle under 40% relative humidity. LGR dehumidifiers (Low Grain Refrigerant) keep pulling moisture down to 35°F and can achieve grain depression 2-3x greater than conventional units. That's the difference between drying a water-damaged structure in 3 days vs 7 days.

We stock LGR dehumidifiers from XPOWER, Ebac, and Abatement Technologies. These are AHAM-rated commercial units with accurate PPD (pints per day) specs—not inflated "saturation" numbers that mean nothing in real-world conditions.

How LGR Technology Works

LGR dehumidifiers pre-cool incoming air before it hits the primary evaporator coil. This double-pass refrigeration system extracts more moisture per kilowatt than standard dehumidifiers. At 80°F/60% RH, expect 30-50% better efficiency. The advantage grows as conditions get harder—exactly when you need performance most.

Most LGR units also feature onboard humidity controls, auto-restart after power loss, and condensate pumps for continuous drainage. Set it and leave it running overnight without babysitting.

LGR vs Conventional Dehumidifiers

LGR dehumidifiers excel in water damage restoration, crawl spaces, basements below 65°F, and any job requiring aggressive drying. Higher upfront cost pays back through faster job completion and lower energy use per pint extracted.

Conventional commercial dehumidifiers work fine for humidity maintenance in warehouses, storage facilities, and climate-controlled spaces above 65°F. Lower cost when you don't need extreme moisture removal.

Sizing LGR Dehumidifiers

Restoration industry standard: 1 LGR dehumidifier per 1,000-1,500 sq ft of affected area, paired with 4-6 air movers. For crawl spaces and basements, size up—poor ventilation and cooler temperatures slow moisture evaporation from materials.
