XPOWER AP-1500D Commercial HEPA Air Scrubber – 700 CFM, DC Brushless Motor
The XPOWER AP-1500D is a 700 CFM HEPA air scrubber running a DC brushless motor at 1.5A — the lowest amp draw in the XPOWER air scrubber lineup. Its 4-stage filtration includes washable nylon mesh (NFS16), pleated media (PF16), activated carbon (CF35), and HEPA (HEPA300-406PV at 99.97% @ 0.3 µm). Integrated PM2.5 digital sensor with color-coded IAQ display, variable speed 500–2000 RPM, 12" ductable exhaust, vacuum pressure gauge, and 45.9 lbs with wheels, aluminum kick plate, and 13-ft power cord.
Medical offices, dental clinics, and occupied commercial renovation zones specify the AP-1500D when maximum units-per-circuit and quiet operation are the primary requirements. At 1.5A, up to ten units can theoretically run on a 20A circuit under NEC continuous load rules — enabling whole-floor deployment on a single circuit without electrical modification. The DC brushless motor operates at the lowest noise profile in the AP series, appropriate for patient care settings and working offices where noise from remediation equipment is a constraint. The activated carbon stage is standard on this model, distinguishing it from 3-stage alternatives when simultaneous VOC and particulate control is needed.
AP-1500D vs. AP-1500U – When Each Is the Right Specification
The AP-1500D (1.5A, no UV-C) and AP-1500U (2A, dual UV-C) share the same 700 CFM output, 4-stage filtration, PM2.5 sensor, and physical dimensions. The AP-1500U adds UV-C pathogen sterilization at 0.5A additional draw. Specify the AP-1500D for environments where particulate and VOC filtration is sufficient and maximum circuit density matters. Specify the AP-1500U where biological pathogen reduction (viruses, bacteria, mold spores) is required alongside filtration — healthcare patient areas, schools, and high-occupancy shared spaces.

XPOWER AP-1500D HEPA Air Scrubber – 700 CFM, DC Brushless...
The AP-1500D delivers 700 CFM at maximum speed with variable control from 500–2000 RPM. At 1.5A it is the lowest-draw XPOWER air scrubber, allowing up to 10 units on a 20A circuit under NEC 80% continuous load rules.
What filtration stages does the AP-1500D include?
The AP-1500D uses 4-stage filtration: NFS16 washable nylon mesh pre-filter, PF16 pleated media filter, CF35 activated carbon filter (odor/VOC removal), and HEPA300-406PV HEPA filter at 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 microns.
How does the AP-1500D differ from the AP-1500U?
The AP-1500D (1.5A) lacks UV-C; the AP-1500U (2A) adds dual built-in UV-C lights for pathogen sterilization. Both share 700 CFM, 4-stage filtration, PM2.5 sensor, 12" ductable exhaust, and the same dimensions. Choose AP-1500D for maximum circuit density; choose AP-1500U where UV-C pathogen control is required.
Does the AP-1500D include an activated carbon filter?
Yes. The CF35 activated carbon filter is standard on the AP-1500D, providing VOC adsorption and odor control alongside the HEPA filtration stage. This distinguishes it from 3-stage alternatives (like the X-4700A/X-4700AM) that omit the carbon stage.
What does the vacuum pressure gauge on the AP-1500D do?
The vacuum pressure gauge measures the pressure differential across the filter stack, confirming the unit is operating within specification and filters are properly sealed. A pressure reading outside the normal range indicates filter loading or a seal issue requiring attention.
What is the PM2.5 sensor on the AP-1500D?
The PM2.5 sensor measures fine particulate concentration in real time with a color-coded digital display: green (good air quality), orange (moderate), red (poor). It provides continuous IAQ monitoring without a separate meter.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
