Sandia 86-2100 Sniper 6-Gallon Carpet Extractor – 100 PSI Dual 2-Stage

The 86-2100 is the entry-level PSI configuration in Sandia's 6-gallon Sniper line — 100 PSI pump pressure with dual 2-stage vacuum motors producing 205" of water lift. It is the lightest of the 6-gallon Sniper models at 87 lbs (standard), making it a one-person unit on stairs where the 86-2300 at 93 lbs and the 86-3200 at 93 lbs become more difficult to manage alone. The heated variant (86-2100-H) adds a 2000W in-line heater without changing the pump pressure or motor configuration.

86-2100 Specifications and Sniper Line Position

  • Pump pressure: 100 PSI adjustable — lower than the 300 PSI 86-2300 and 200 PSI 86-3200 in the 6-gallon Sniper line; suitable for medium-pile commercial carpet and upholstery where high-pressure injection could over-saturate the substrate
  • Vacuum motors: dual 2-stage — produces 205" water lift; the same lift as the 86-2300 (300 PSI) and 86-3200 (200 PSI), since all 6-gallon Sniper models share the same motor specification
  • Tank capacity: 6 gal solution + 6 gal recovery — half the capacity of the 12-gallon 80-series Sniper models; requires more frequent fill-dump cycles on large jobs
  • Weight: 87 lbs standard / 97 lbs heated — the lightest 6-gallon Sniper configuration; 6 lbs lighter than the 86-2300 and 86-3200 at 93 lbs
  • Dimensions: 26"×17"×35"; 10" non-marking wheels
  • Power cord: one 25 ft 12/3-gauge cord (standard); two 25 ft cords (heated model)
  • Heater (86-2100-H only): 2000W in-line unit raises solution to 200°F
  • Body: roto-molded polyethylene; waist-high recessed controls; made in USA

Where 100 PSI Is the Right Pressure Level

Carpet extraction pressure is not always better at higher values. At 100 PSI, the 86-2100 injects solution into cut-pile carpet without over-penetrating the backing, which keeps moisture off the subfloor and reduces dry time. For upholstery cleaning with a hand tool, 100 PSI is also more appropriate than 200–300 PSI, which can force solution through fabric into foam padding. The 86-2100 is the right choice when the cleaning surfaces include a mix of carpet and upholstered furniture, or when drying time is a priority. For heavily soiled commercial carpet where deeper penetration is needed, the 86-2300 (300 PSI) or 86-3200 (200 PSI, 3-stage motors) are the upgrade path.

Comparing 86-2100 to the 80-Series 12-Gallon Snipers

The 86-2100 shares the Sniper build philosophy with the 80-2300, 80-3300, and other models but in a 6-gallon configuration. The 6-gallon tanks suit jobs under approximately 2,000–3,000 sq ft per shift; beyond that, the fill-dump cycle frequency becomes a production bottleneck. The 12-gallon 80-series models address larger floor areas but weigh 113–140 lbs versus 87–97 lbs for the 86-2100. For a single operator cleaning mid-size facilities — schools, medical clinics, small hotels — the 86-2100 is more manageable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 86-2100 compare to the 86-2300 in the Sniper 6-gallon line?
The 86-2100 uses a 100 PSI adjustable pump; the 86-2300 uses a 300 PSI pump. Both use dual 2-stage motors producing 205" water lift, and both have 6-gallon tanks. The 86-2100 weighs 87 lbs (standard) versus 93 lbs for the 86-2300. Choose the 86-2100 when moderate pressure is sufficient; choose the 86-2300 for heavily soiled carpet requiring deeper penetration.
Why would I choose 100 PSI instead of 200 or 300 PSI?
Higher pump pressure penetrates deeper into carpet fibers but also drives more moisture into the backing and subfloor, increasing dry time. At 100 PSI, the 86-2100 cleans medium-pile commercial carpet without over-saturating the substrate. It is also more appropriate for upholstery cleaning, where 200–300 PSI can force solution through fabric into foam padding.
Does the 86-2100-H heated model require a different electrical circuit?
Yes. The standard 86-2100 uses one 25 ft 12/3 cord; the 86-2100-H uses two 25 ft cords. Connect each cord to a separate circuit to avoid overloading a single breaker. The 2000W heater draws approximately 17.4A at 115V, which exceeds a 15A circuit when combined with the motor — a 20A dedicated circuit for each cord is the correct installation.
What is the tank capacity of the 86-2100, and how many square feet can it cover per fill?
The 86-2100 has 6-gallon solution and 6-gallon recovery tanks. Coverage per fill depends on application rate — typically 1,500–2,500 sq ft per fill on medium-pile commercial carpet at standard solution dilution. Heavily soiled areas requiring multiple passes will reduce coverage per fill.
Can the 86-2100 climb stairs?
The 10" non-marking wheels are designed for stair transport. At 87 lbs (standard), one experienced operator can manage stair climbing, though a second person to guide the machine is recommended. The heated 86-2100-H at 97 lbs is more comfortably handled by two operators on stairs.
