Novatek HD-SH3 Triple Scaling Hammer (Short Handle) for High-Output Work in Tight Quarters

The HD-SH3 short-handle scaling hammer drives three tungsten carbide cruciform pistons at 2,500 blows per minute each, tripling the impact footprint of the single head for faster take-down. The 9-inch handle keeps the tool compact for overhead, vertical, and confined work where a longer handle is awkward. Crews running structural steel, marine, and concrete surface prep use it on pack rust, laminar rust, thick mill scale, epoxy, and non-skid coatings.

HD-SH3 Short Handle: Three-Piston Output in a Compact Tool

Three pistons firing at 3 x 2,500 BPM cover a wider strip per pass than the single head, clearing flat surfaces faster at the cost of more air and weight. Two live air inlets let the operator set the handle inline or perpendicular to the work. The 9-inch handle, compared with the 18-inch long version, shortens the tool for tank interiors, overhead beams, and confined positions. The screw-top cap opens each head for field piston replacement, and nylon brush seals wipe the pistons every stroke.

  • Three tungsten carbide cruciform pistons at 3 x 2,500 BPM cover wider strips per pass than the single head
  • 9-inch handle keeps the tool compact for overhead, vertical, and confined-space work
  • Two live air inlets allow inline or perpendicular handle setup to suit the work angle
  • Higher output than the 1SH, suited to flat area while staying compact
  • Runs on 14 CFM, so size the compressor accordingly before deployment
  • Screw-top cap allows field replacement of heads and pistons
  • Nylon brush seals clean each piston every stroke to reduce grit wear

HD-SH3 Short Handle Applications and Environments

Structural steel: clears pack rust, laminar rust, and high-build coatings across plate and weldments in overhead and confined positions. Marine: strips deck coatings, non-skid, and corrosion inside tanks and tight spaces. Concrete: take-down of slab surfaces, plus texturing and aggregate exposure when fitted with bush hammer heads.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 3SH and 1SH scaling hammers?
The 3SH (PHS3HDS) drives three tungsten carbide pistons at 3 x 2,500 BPM on 14 CFM, covering a wider strip per pass for faster work on flat area. The 1SH drives one piston at 2,500 BPM on 6.5 CFM and is narrower and easier to control on edges and detail work.
Why choose the short handle over the long handle?
The short handle measures 9 inches versus 18 inches on the long version. It keeps the tool compact for overhead, vertical, and confined-space work. The long handle is better for deck and slab work where reach helps.
How much air does the HD-SH3 require?
It consumes 14 CFM (408 lpm), more than double the single head. Size the compressor to deliver that volume continuously at the tool before deploying it.
What do the two live air inlets do?
The two inlets let the operator attach the handle inline with the heads or perpendicular to them, adapting the tool to the work angle. This option is specific to the triple-head hammers.
Is this hammer dust-controlled?
No. The HD-SH3 is the open version. For dust capture, use the shrouded triple VSE scaling hammer (PHS3VSEHDS), which adds a vacuum shroud and a port for a connected dust collector.
