The Novatek 28PG Shrouded Scaler Package pairs a pistol-grip 28-needle scaler with a vacuum shroud enclosure (VSE) for contained dust capture during heavy surface prep. With 28 needles striking at 2200 blows per minute, it delivers more power and faster production on thick coatings, heavy rust, and mill scale than the 19-needle version. The shroud holds removed material at the surface for a HEPA vacuum, and the rubber pistol grip gives control on vertical and overhead work.
Why the 28PG Trades Speed for Removal Power
The 28PG runs at 2200 BPM rather than 3000, but its wider 28-needle pattern covers more surface per pass and hits with more mass behind each stroke. That makes it the choice for bulk removal of heavy coatings rather than light detail work. Each needle carries a 3mm chisel tip on a 7-inch shank and flexes over rivet heads, edges, piping, and irregular profiles. The fully adjustable front vacuum take-off seals the shroud, and the standard 1.5-inch take-off connects to a HEPA vacuum. Low air consumption keeps it on small, portable compressors.
