Mercury Storm WVP-20: 20-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum with Poly Tank and Dual 1.335 HP Motors
The WVP-20 runs the same dual-motor configuration as the WVC-20 โ two 1.335 HP motors for 2.67 HP total, 225 CFM airflow, and 78" water lift โ in an impact-resistant poly tank body. The poly tank is lighter and easier to maneuver than the chromed steel WVC-20 in environments where tank durability against chemical exposure and rough-surface movement matters more than dent resistance. Both models hold 20 gallons dry and 15 gallons wet, use the same 5-piece tool kit, and weigh 63 lbs empty.
WVP-20 Motor, Capacity, and Tool Specifications
Motor: Dual 1.335 HP (2.67 HP total / 2000 watts) โ two motors in parallel for 225 CFM total airflow
Airflow: 225 CFM โ sufficient for large debris volumes and fast standing water recovery
Water lift: 78 inches โ effective suction head for floor flooding, drain overflow, and wash-down residue
Tank capacity (dry): 20 gallons
Tank capacity (wet): 15 gallons
Tank construction: Super-durable poly (high-density polyethylene) โ impact-resistant, chemical-resistant, lighter than steel
Hose: 1.5-inch locking vacuum hose โ prevents disconnection during operation
WVP-20 vs WVC-20: Choosing Between Poly and Chromed Steel Tanks
The WVP-20 and WVC-20 are mechanically identical โ same motors, same airflow, same capacity, same weight. The difference is tank material. The poly tank on the WVP-20 handles chemical exposure better: solvents, floor strippers, and disinfectant concentrations that can pit or corrode chromed steel over time do not affect high-density polyethylene. The poly body is also slightly more flexible under impact โ it absorbs minor collision energy without denting, whereas a steel tank dents permanently. For operations where the vacuum moves frequently on construction sites, through rough-surface loading docks, or in areas where chemical splash is common, the WVP-20 is the lower-maintenance choice. For environments where a polished professional appearance is important and chemical exposure is minimal โ hotel lobbies, corporate offices, healthcare facilities โ the WVC-20 chromed steel tank presents better. Both accept the WVS-20B squeegee assembly (sold separately) for extended water recovery width.
1.5" Locking Hose and Dual-Motor Airflow in Practice
The WVP-20's 1.5-inch hose locks into the inlet port with a positive-click mechanism that prevents the hose from pulling free during use. In floor water recovery with the optional squeegee assembly, the hose sees considerable tension as the operator pushes the machine forward โ the locking connector maintains the airtight seal throughout. The dual-motor configuration delivers 225 CFM through that 1.5" hose, which is sufficient to move water rapidly through the hose path and into the tank. At 78" water lift, the machine maintains effective suction through 15โ20 feet of hose and wand extension, which covers the working radius of the machine without repositioning. For large wet floor areas, the optional WVS-20B front squeegee assembly extends each pass to 25.5" width, reducing the number of machine passes needed to recover standing water from a given area.

What is the difference between the WVP-20 and the WVC-20?
The WVP-20 has an impact-resistant poly (HDPE) tank. The WVC-20 has a chromed stainless steel tank. Both models use identical dual 1.335 HP motors, deliver 225 CFM at 78" water lift, hold 20 gallons dry / 15 gallons wet, include the same 5-piece tool kit, and weigh 63 lbs empty. The poly tank handles chemical exposure and minor impacts better; the chromed steel tank provides a more polished appearance and higher dent resistance in formal commercial settings.
Can the WVP-20 be used with the WVS-20B squeegee assembly?
Yes. The WVS-20B front-mount squeegee assembly is compatible with both the WVP-20 and the WVC-20. It mounts to the front of the vacuum body and provides a 25.5" wide squeegee pass for standing water recovery. The WVS-20B uses a step-down foot pedal to lift and lower the squeegee blade between passes. It is sold separately.
How does the 78" water lift rating affect performance in floor flooding cleanup?
The 78" water lift means the WVP-20 can sustain suction against a 6.5-foot vertical column of water. In floor flooding scenarios, the machine is positioned on the floor surface and pulls water horizontally through the hose rather than vertically โ the water lift specification ensures that the vacuum maintains effective suction through the full hose and wand assembly without losing suction at the inlet.
Should I remove the cloth filter before using the WVP-20 for liquid pickup?
Yes. Remove the washable cloth filter before switching to wet pickup. The cloth filter saturates within minutes of liquid pickup, which reduces airflow significantly and may cause the filter to restrict the suction path. For wet operation, the WVP-20 uses an internal float mechanism to stop liquid from reaching the motors when the tank approaches the 15-gallon wet capacity limit โ the cloth filter is not required and should not be installed.
What does the 1.5" locking hose prevent during operation?
The locking hose prevents disconnection at the vacuum inlet during use. In water recovery applications, the operator moves the machine forward while pulling the hose and wand across the wet floor โ this creates tension at the inlet connection. Without a locking mechanism, the hose can pull free under moderate tension, breaking the airtight seal and stopping suction. The positive-click locking connector maintains the seal throughout operation regardless of hose tension.
What is the poly tank's advantage over chromed steel in chemical-exposed environments?
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is chemically inert to most commercial cleaning agents โ floor strippers, disinfectants, degreasers, and acidic or alkaline solutions do not attack HDPE surfaces. Chromed steel can pit or develop surface corrosion when exposed to strong acid-based or bleach-based cleaners over time, particularly in high-humidity environments. For operations that regularly recover chemical-laden water from floor stripping or sanitation wash-down, the WVP-20 poly tank requires less maintenance than the WVC-20 steel tank.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our homeโs central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
