Where the 1307 Scrub Brush Outperforms Green or Blue Pads

Green and blue floor pads are flat — they contact the high points of a floor surface and skip over low points in grout lines, non-slip texturing, and surface irregularities. On a smooth VCT floor, a flat pad works effectively because the entire pad surface contacts the finish. On quarry tile, non-slip ceramic, epoxy broadcast floors, or concrete with a broom finish, the texture pattern creates gaps between the flat pad and the floor that the cleaning chemical and pad abrasion cannot reach. The 1307's 1.5-inch flexible nylon bristles deflect under pressure to follow the surface profile, forcing the silicon carbide abrasive into grout channels and non-slip surface features where embedded soil accumulates. This is the mechanical reason a scrub brush outperforms a flat pad on textured flooring: bristle flex closes the gap between the cleaning medium and the soil surface. The 180 grit silicon carbide in the Tynex nylon provides abrasive scrubbing action without the rigidity of a hard bristle brush that could chip grout or damage softer tile finishes. At 180 grit, the brush is aggressive enough to loosen embedded grease and soil in food service and industrial environments but not so coarse that it scratches sealed or glazed surfaces during routine maintenance use.

DuPont Tynex A is a nylon monofilament used in industrial abrasive brushes because it combines the flexibility of nylon with the ability to hold abrasive particles within the filament structure — the silicon carbide is embedded throughout the nylon fiber, not just coated on the surface. As the bristle tips wear down through use, fresh abrasive is exposed continuously rather than depleting from the outside in.
