The Hawk Glide Freedom XHD 17" (F92-17-01) runs a 1.5 HP dual-capacitor motor through XHD-rated 11:1 helical-cut gears at 165 RPM — the higher gear ratio of the XHD model compared to the standard HD provides more torque for stripping, aggressive scrubbing, and severe-duty floor preparation. The Wheels-Down floating head and forward-motion control system reduce operator fatigue on large commercial floor areas. At 113 lbs it is lighter and more maneuverable than the Merlin WD heavy machines while sharing the XHD gear specification.
XHD Drive System and Performance Specs
- 1.5 HP dual-capacitor, 7.1A, 165 RPM — draws 7.1 amps at full load, comfortably within a 15-amp circuit even with other equipment running; 165 RPM is the standard low-speed buffer range for stripping and heavy scrubbing.
- XHD 11:1 helical-cut gears — the extra-heavy-duty gear rating handles the torsional loads of aggressive black pads, scrub brushes, and diamond abrasive applications without gear wear; 11:1 ratio provides higher torque output per motor revolution than 10:1 gearing at the cost of slightly lower speed.
