Bissell BGDC-21-2000 21" High-Speed Commercial Floor Burnisher – 2000 RPM

The BGDC-21-2000 runs a 1.5 HP DC rectified motor at 2,000 RPM on a 21-inch pad — the highest RPM in the Bissell burnisher lineup, producing maximum gloss per pass on VCT, vinyl, terrazzo, and sealed concrete. The DC motor maintains consistent 2,000 RPM under pad load without the voltage sensitivity of universal motors. Non-conductive dual triggers with interlock switch, adjustable handle, and non-marring bumpers complete the professional specification at 89 pounds. Pad driver sold separately.

BGDC-21-2000 High-Speed Burnisher Specs

  • Motor: 1.5 HP DC rectified — stable 2,000 RPM under load regardless of voltage conditions
  • Pad speed: 2,000 RPM — maximum gloss output per pass in the BGDC series
  • Pad size: 21 inches — wide coverage for hospital corridors, airport terminals, large retail
  • Chassis: polished aluminum — rigid and lightweight for extended burnishing runs
  • Safety: non-conductive dual triggers with interlock switch — both hands required during operation
  • Bumpers: non-marring full-wrap — wall and baseboard protection
  • Low-profile drive apron: cleans under counters and cove areas
  • Handle: adjustable height
  • Power cord: 50 ft, 14/3-gauge safety — rated for 13–15 amp draw
  • Weight: 89 lbs
  • Wheels: 6-inch non-marking operating, 4-inch transport
  • Warranty: 5-year limited motor
  • Pad driver: sold separately

When 2,000 RPM Burnishing Is Specified

Higher pad speed generates more friction and heat during the burnishing pass, which melts and distributes floor finish more aggressively to produce a higher-gloss, more reflective surface. Facilities that burnish daily or every other day typically use 1,500 RPM (BGDC-19, BGDC-21) because the finish does not lose significant gloss between sessions. Facilities on less frequent schedules — weekly or bi-weekly burnishing — specify 2,000 RPM to restore maximum gloss from a more degraded starting condition in a single pass. The BGDC-21-2000 is also used in restoration scenarios: stripping and recoating a floor followed by high-RPM burnishing to maximize the gloss of fresh finish before the floor returns to traffic.

2,000 RPM Pad and Floor Considerations

At 2,000 RPM, pad selection requires careful matching to floor finish hardness. Standard white or tan burnishing pads (3M Scotch-Brite 3300 high-speed or equivalent) are the appropriate specification for VCT and vinyl at 2,000 RPM. Using abrasive or scrubbing pads at 2,000 RPM removes finish rather than redistributing it. Natural hair pads work for high-speed polishing of terrazzo and sealed marble where the surface is already prepared. The BGDC-21-2000 weighs 89 lbs — 3 lbs more than the 1,500 RPM BGDC-21 — a marginal difference in operational handling. The machine ships with the burnisher and 50-foot cord; the 21-inch pad driver must be purchased separately before first use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does burnishing do to a floor?
Burnishing polishes a finished floor at high speed to produce a high-gloss shine and harden the coating. The BGDC-21-2000 runs at 2000 RPM, the high-speed range that brings up a deep gloss on coated floors across a wide 21-inch path.
What is the difference between buffing and burnishing?
Buffing runs at lower speeds to clean and maintain, while burnishing runs at high speed to produce gloss. The BGDC-21-2000 at 2000 RPM is a high-speed burnisher built specifically for the high-gloss finishing step.
What is the difference between a floor scrubber and a burnisher?
A floor scrubber applies solution, agitates, and extracts dirty water at low speed to clean. A burnisher like the BGDC-21-2000 runs dry at 2000 RPM to polish an already-cleaned finished floor. The scrubber cleans; the burnisher shines.
How often should you burnish a floor?
Frequency depends on traffic and finish, from daily in high-traffic settings to weekly or monthly in lighter use. Burnish after the floor is clean and the finish has cured, following the floor-finish manufacturer's recommendations.
What RPM is the BGDC-21-2000?
The BGDC-21-2000 runs at 2000 RPM, driven by a 1.5 HP DC motor with a 50-foot cord and a 21-inch path. The higher speed suits facilities wanting a deeper gloss on large finished floors.
