Bissell BGDC-19 19" Commercial Floor Burnisher – 1500 RPM DC Motor
The BGDC-19 runs a 1.5 HP DC rectified motor at 1,500 RPM on a 19-inch pad — the standard entry into high-speed floor burnishing for VCT, vinyl, tile, terrazzo, and sealed concrete. The DC rectified motor design eliminates startup torque issues, low-voltage drops, and brown-out conditions that affect universal motors. A polished aluminum chassis, non-conductive dual triggers, and non-marring full-wrap bumpers complete the commercial-grade specification. Pad driver sold separately.

When 1,500 RPM Burnishing Is Appropriate
Floor burnishing generates heat and friction between the pad and floor finish, which momentarily melts and redistributes the finish to create a high-gloss surface. At 1,500 RPM, the BGDC-19 produces a professional gloss level on VCT, vinyl composition tile, terrazzo, and sealed concrete without the risk of finish removal that higher RPM machines pose on softer finishes. Facilities running daily or every-other-day burnishing cycles — hospitals, schools, and retail stores on high-frequency maintenance programs — often specify 1,500 RPM machines as the sustainable maintenance standard. The 2,000 RPM BGDC-19-2000 is appropriate where the maintenance schedule is less frequent and higher luster is required per session.
Floor Burnisher Pad Selection and What Ships in the Box
The BGDC-19 ships with the machine, 50-foot power cord, and operator documentation. The pad driver is sold separately — required for operation. Tan or white burnishing pads (3M Scotch-Brite 3100 or equivalent) are the standard specification for 1,500 RPM maintenance burnishing on VCT and vinyl. Red buffing pads suit spray buffing applications. Natural hair pads work on sealed terrazzo and marble. Pad hardness must match floor finish hardness — too aggressive a pad at high RPM removes finish rather than redistributing it. The Xactimate code for burnishing labor in commercial restoration contexts is CLNCMP for commercial cleaning maintenance.

Burnishing polishes a finished floor at high speed to produce a high-gloss shine and harden the finish. The BGDC-19 runs at 1500 RPM, which is the speed range that brings up gloss on coated VCT and similar finished floors.
What is the difference between buffing and burnishing?
Buffing runs at lower speeds, generally a few hundred RPM, to maintain and clean a floor, while burnishing runs at 1500 RPM or higher to produce a high gloss. The BGDC-19 at 1500 RPM is a burnisher, built for the high-gloss finishing step rather than scrubbing.
What is the difference between a floor scrubber and a burnisher?
A floor scrubber applies solution, agitates, and extracts dirty water to clean a floor, typically at 175 RPM. A burnisher like the BGDC-19 runs dry at 1500 RPM to polish an already-cleaned, finished floor. The scrubber cleans; the burnisher shines.
How often should you burnish a floor?
Burnishing frequency depends on traffic and finish, ranging from daily in high-traffic retail to weekly or monthly in lighter-use facilities. Burnish after the floor is clean and the finish has cured, and follow the floor-finish manufacturer's recommendations.
What RPM is the BGDC-19?
The BGDC-19 runs at 1500 RPM, driven by a 1.5 HP DC motor with a 50-foot cord. That speed places it in the burnishing range for producing a high-gloss finish on coated floors.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
