The pre-filter is the first layer in the AllerAir AirMedic Pro 5 and the one you replace most often. It catches dust, hair and lint at the intake so the HEPA and the carbon bed behind it never see coarse debris. Skipping it does not save money. It moves the wear onto the carbon and HEPA stages, which are the expensive parts of the machine.
How often should the pre-filter be changed?
AllerAir recommends every two to three months, and more often where there are pets, carpet, construction dust or heavy foot traffic. They are sold in packs because the interval is short.
Why the cheapest filter matters most

Service notes
Change the pre-filter at every carbon change as a matter of course, and on the two-to-three month cycle in between. Keeping to it is the cheapest way to protect the carbon and HEPA stages.

Cancellations: cancel any time before your order ships. Refunds are issued for the order total minus the non-refundable payment processing fee (2.9% + $0.30), so a cancellation is not always a 100% refund. No fee is deducted if we cancel the order or the item arrives damaged or defective.
