The pre-filter is the first layer in the AllerAir AirMedic Pro 5 and the one you replace most often. It catches dust, hair, lint and larger debris before they reach the HEPA and carbon filters.
How often should the pre-filter be changed?
AllerAir recommends every two to three months, and more often in environments with heavy dust or particle exposure. They are sold in packs because the interval is short.
What the Pre-Filter Does
- 4 filters per pack — roughly ten months of changes at the recommended interval
- Protects the HEPA — catches larger debris before it reaches the HEPA filter
- Protects the carbon — AllerAir says it helps extend the life of the main HEPA and carbon filters
- Keeps airflow up — AllerAir says it helps maintain optimal airflow
- Tool-free change — no disassembly

Change the pre-filter at every carbon change as a matter of course, and on the two-to-three month cycle in between.

Shipping & Returns
Free shipping on most brands for orders over $300, delivered to the lower 48 states. Any brand-specific freight rate is shown at checkout before you pay.
Processing & delivery: in-stock orders are processed within 1–2 business days and typically deliver in 5–7 business days. Tracking is emailed within 24 hours of shipment. Built-to-order equipment shows its lead time on this page.
Freight deliveries: inspect your equipment on arrival and note any damage on the delivery receipt. Items damaged in transit or defective on arrival are fully covered at no cost to you.
Cancellations: cancel any time before your order ships. Refunds are issued for the order total minus a non-refundable payment processing fee, which may apply, so a cancellation is not always a 100% refund. No fee is deducted if we cancel the order or the item arrives damaged or defective.
