Replacement Filters for Commercial Cleaning Equipment

A filter is the one part of an air scrubber, negative air machine, or HEPA vacuum that is guaranteed to wear out. Run a machine on a loaded filter and airflow drops, the motor works harder, and on a containment job the machine stops doing the thing it was hired to do. This page collects the replacement filters we stock across every brand we carry, so you can find the one that fits without going through the machine's brand page first.

HEPA filters

True HEPA media captures 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, which is the threshold the EPA uses to define HEPA. That rating is what makes a machine acceptable on mold, lead, and asbestos work, and it only holds if the filter is genuine and seated correctly. Most HEPA filters here are the final stage in a three-stage stack, and they last longest when the pre-filter in front of them is changed on schedule.

Pre-filters and carbon filters

Pre-filters are the cheap part that protects the expensive one. They catch bulk dust and debris before it reaches the HEPA element, and on a dusty demolition job they may need changing several times before the HEPA does. Carbon filters do a different job: they adsorb odors and VOCs, which is what you want after a fire, a sewage loss, or in a facility dealing with a persistent smell rather than particulate.

Vacuum filters and filter bags

Commercial vacuums use a mix of cloth filters, foam filters, HEPA cartridges, and disposable bags, and the fitment is specific to the model. Bags in particular are worth buying in packs, since a vacuum running on a full bag loses suction long before it looks full.

How often filters need changing

There is no single interval, because loading depends on the environment, not the calendar. As a working rule: check pre-filters at the end of every job, change them whenever they look grey, and plan on a HEPA change once airflow noticeably drops or the machine's indicator says so. For remediation work, the IICRC S520 standard treats filter condition as part of containment integrity, so a filter change log is worth keeping with the job file.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which replacement filter fits my machine?
Match the filter to the model number on the machine’s data plate, not to the machine’s name. Manufacturers reuse names across generations, and a Novair 1000 built in 2015 does not always take the same element as one built last year. If the data plate is missing, the serial number will tell us which revision you have.
How often should an air scrubber filter be changed?
Pre-filters get checked at the end of every job and changed when they look grey. HEPA filters are changed when airflow drops noticeably or the machine’s indicator calls for it, which on steady restoration work usually lands somewhere between six months and a year.
Can I wash and reuse a HEPA filter?
No. Washing a HEPA element damages the media and destroys the 99.97% rating, even when the filter looks fine afterwards. Only filters explicitly sold as cleanable and reusable, which are usually metal-mesh or foam pre-filters, are meant to be rinsed.
Are aftermarket filters as good as the manufacturer’s?
For pre-filters the difference is usually small. For HEPA elements it matters, because the rating depends on both the media and the seal in the frame, and an element that leaks around the gasket fails the machine regardless of the media grade. Everything on this page is the manufacturer’s own part.
What is the difference between a carbon filter and a HEPA filter?
A HEPA filter traps particles. A carbon filter adsorbs gases and odors. They solve different problems, which is why odor jobs run both: HEPA for the particulate, carbon for the smell left behind.
