Mosquito America Super HEPA and Carbon-Lite Backpack Vacuums

The Super HEPA Line and Sidewinder Tool Kits

Super HEPA is Mosquito's flagship designation, and it means sealed-system filtration that holds asbestos fiber, crystalline silica, mold spore, and lead dust inside the machine rather than releasing it through the housing during operation or a bag change. That containment, not the 99.97 percent capture rating alone, is what makes these appropriate on regulated work where documented filtration is a compliance requirement. The SW models ship with the Sidewinder tool kit in 6-quart and 10-quart capacities, including a 10-quart construction build.

Carbon-Lite and the Weight Question

Operator fatigue is the real constraint on a backpack vacuum, not suction. The Carbon-Lite 06-1060-ST comes in at 9.8 pounds while still moving 152 CFM through quad HEPA filtration. Over a long route, weight off the shoulders is what determines how much floor a crew actually covers. Mosquito also builds a cordless HEPA backpack at 16.2 pounds for areas where dragging a cord is the bottleneck, along with wet/dry models for liquid and debris on restoration work, carpet extractors, and disinfectant sprayers.

Who Runs These

Abatement contractors use the Super HEPA models as their primary vacuum on asbestos, mold, and lead projects where certification paperwork is part of closeout. Restoration crews use the wet/dry units on flood work. Hospital EVS departments use the backpacks in patient areas where recirculating spores and allergens is not acceptable. Cleaning contractors working schools and offices tend toward Carbon-Lite for the same reason a roofer cares about the weight of a nail gun.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Mosquito America manufacture?
Mosquito America manufactures commercial backpack vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, and carpet spotters, with many models made in the USA. The backpack line, including HEPA and carbon-lite models, is the core of the catalog.
Why choose a Mosquito backpack vacuum?
A backpack vacuum lets one operator clean more square footage per hour than an upright, and reaches stairs, edges, and under furniture. Mosquito backpacks run light, from under 10 pounds, to cut operator fatigue on long routes.
Do Mosquito vacuums use HEPA filtration?
Yes, Mosquito backpack vacuums offer HEPA filtration, and several models are rated 99.97% HEPA with multi-stage filters. That captures fine dust and allergens for schools, healthcare, and dust-sensitive job sites.
Are Mosquito America products made in the USA?
Many Mosquito America backpack vacuums are made in the USA. Domestic manufacturing means faster access to replacement lids, hoses, cuffs, and hardware kits when a part wears out.

AllerAir AirMedic Pro 6 Plus Air Purifier – 22 lb Carbon, Super HEPA
Brio Air Filtration = Game Changer

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.

It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.

An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.

We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.

A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
