Vertical Air Compressors for Tight Shops
Same Reserve, Smaller Footprint
A vertical air compressor stands the tank on end, so an 80-gallon unit takes up a fraction of the floor space a horizontal tank of the same volume needs. In a crowded service bay, a tight fabrication shop, or a corner where floor space is the constraint, that upright footprint is the whole point: you get the full 80-gallon air reserve without giving up a wide stretch of floor. The pump and motor sit on top of the tank rather than beside it.
Two-Stage Cast-Iron Power
These are two-stage compressors with cast-iron, splash-lubricated pumps rated to 175 PSI, the same continuous-duty build as the horizontal line. Five and 7.5 HP options cover single-operator bays running impact tools, sanders, and spray guns. Single-phase 230V fits standard shop service; three-phase options suit facilities with three-phase power. Follow the OSHA compressed-gas equipment guidance for installation and operation of a pressurized system.
Choosing Vertical Over Horizontal
Pick vertical when floor space is tight and the compressor sits against a wall or in a corner. Pick horizontal when a low, stable profile matters more, such as under a bench or where ceiling height is limited. Both share the same pump and pressure.
