Mobile Containment Cubes

Portable negative pressure enclosures that establish isolated work areas for hazardous material removal without full-area containment construction. Set up in minutes and move between rooms as work progresses. Used by abatement contractors handling mold, asbestos, or lead paint in occupied buildings.

Mobile Containment Cubes for Portable Hazmat Work Enclosures

How Mobile Containment Cubes Work

Mobile containment cubes are pre-fabricated negative pressure enclosures mounted on casters that roll to the work area, deploy around the work surface, and connect to a HEPA-filtered negative air machine or blower that exhausts through the cube's filtered panel. The worker enters through a zippered flap, performs the hazardous task inside the sealed enclosure, and the negative pressure prevents contaminated air from escaping into the surrounding space. When finished, the cube is decontaminated, folded down or collapsed, and rolled to the next location — eliminating the labor-intensive plastic sheeting and tape work required for traditional containment.

Mobile Cubes vs. Traditional Poly Containment

Traditional poly containment takes 1–3 hours to install per room: plastic sheeting stapled or taped to walls and ceiling, a negative air machine exhausting through an exterior penetration, and a multi-chamber decontamination unit at the entry point. For whole-room abatement, this investment is appropriate. For small-scope tasks — removing 10 square feet of asbestos floor tile, sanding a lead paint patch, or cutting through a contaminated wall — the containment labor exceeds the removal labor. Mobile cubes complete the same regulatory requirement in 10–15 minutes of setup time and generate no plastic waste requiring disposal as contaminated material.

When to Use Mobile Containment Cubes

Mobile cubes are most appropriate for small-area abatement tasks in occupied buildings where full containment would require tenant or building occupant displacement, or in scenarios where the abatement area is too small to justify the cost and time of traditional setup. EPA and OSHA requirements do not specify the containment method — they specify the outcome: preventing fiber or dust migration outside the work area and maintaining negative pressure during work. Mobile cubes achieve this outcome for tasks scoped to the cube's interior dimensions, typically covering work areas of 4×4 to 8×8 feet depending on the model.
