BioKool Portable Air Conditioners for Infection Control and Healthcare

The BioKool portable air conditioners — models KBIO1411-3 and KBIX1411-3 — are not standard portable AC units. Each combines a 13,850 BTU refrigeration circuit with an integrated HEPA filtration stage and a UVC germicidal lamp that irradiates air as it passes through the cooling system. HEPA capture efficiency is 99.97% at 0.3 microns. The KBIX1411-3 adds a bi-polar ionizer, which charges fine particles — including sub-micron fungal spores and viral aerosols — causing them to aggregate and fall from suspension before they reach the HEPA stage. Both units operate on a standard 115V/20A circuit, requiring no electrical modifications to existing rooms. Target environments include isolation rooms, pre-procedure surgical suites, dental operatories, compounding pharmacies, and any enclosed space where simultaneous cooling and pathogen reduction are required. Cooling capacity is rated for rooms up to approximately 700 sq. ft.; larger footprints are handled by staging two units with appropriate air change calculations. BioAir Plus and BioAir Max HEPA Air Scrubbers for Mold Remediation

The BioAir Plus (KBP series) and BioAir Max (KBX series) are standalone HEPA air scrubbers, not air conditioners — they filter and treat air without cooling it. Both lines are available in 600, 1,000, and 1,800 CFM models. The BioAir Plus uses a HEPA stage followed by UVC germicidal treatment. The BioAir Max adds a bi-polar ionizer upstream of the HEPA filter, which is particularly effective in mold remediation scenarios where spores and hyphal fragments must be captured from a disturbed containment zone. Both series meet IICRC S520 requirements for negative air machine deployment during mold remediation. The standard sizing rule: 110 CFM per 100 sq. ft. of containment at 4 air changes per hour. A 600 sq. ft. workspace at that rate requires 660 CFM minimum — the KBP1000 or KBX1000 provides the appropriate margin. Ceiling mounting kits (CK-12SS and CK-12S-SS) are sold separately for overhead installation without consuming floor space.

The KB80L1 moves 4,900 CFM on a 110V/6.1A draw via an 18-inch fan, covering spaces up to 1,700 sq. ft. The KB105L1 scales to a 24-inch fan and 7,250 CFM for areas up to 2,600 sq. ft. Both units include automated swing louvers, an ice door for supplemental cooling effect, and a polyethylene frame rated for outdoor use from 32°F to 113°F ambient. Evaporative cooling is most effective where ambient relative humidity stays below 60% and the space has adequate fresh-air exchange — conditions typical of warehouses, loading bays, outdoor festivals, and open-sided industrial facilities.
