AirMedic Pro 6 Ultra — 34 lb Carbon at Maximum Depth for Severe MCS and Industrial Applications
The Ultra is AllerAir's highest-capacity configuration — 31–34 lbs of activated carbon in a 5"-deep bed with 4,500 acres of surface area, combined with Super HEPA at 99.99% efficiency at 0.01 microns. The 5" carbon depth is the deepest in the Pro 6 line — more depth means longer contact time between air and carbon media, removing lower-concentration contaminants the shallower beds miss. Where the standard Pro 6 uses a 2.5" bed (17 lbs) and the HD uses a 3.5" bed (26–29 lbs), the Ultra doubles the depth to 5" at 31–34 lbs.
AirMedic Pro 6 Ultra Carbon Depth and Filtration Capacity
Carbon bed depth is the single most important differentiator in gas-phase air purification — deeper bed means longer air-carbon contact time, which translates directly to removal efficiency for lower-concentration contaminants.
31–34 lbs activated carbon (5" bed) — Exec blend: 31–33 lbs; Vocarb blend: 32–34 lbs; 2× the depth of the standard Pro 6 and 43% deeper than the HD
4,500 acres carbon surface area — maximum adsorption capacity for VOCs, formaldehyde, chlorine compounds, ammonia, and industrial chemical gases
Super HEPA at 99.99% efficiency (0.01 microns) — same Super HEPA grade as the HD, capturing ultrafine particles and virus-range particulates
560 CFM variable speed motor — 39 dB at low; same airflow platform as Pro 6 and Pro 6 HD
40+ carbon blend options — Exec, Vocarb, or custom formulations for specific industrial chemical environments
CSA/UL certified — safe for continuous operation in occupied spaces on standard 115V or 230V
AirMedic Pro 6 Ultra Applications and Environments
Individuals with severe MCS who require maximum carbon capacity between filter changes are the primary buyer — the Ultra's 5" bed provides the longest service interval and highest chemical removal efficiency in the Pro 6 line. Industrial laboratories and chemical processing areas with active high-concentration chemical off-gassing use it where the HD model's 3.5" bed cannot sustain acceptable air quality between filter changes. Fire and smoke restoration projects with heavy chemical contamination from combustion byproducts (aldehydes, carbon compounds, acrolein) benefit from the Ultra's maximum adsorption capacity. New building off-gassing where multiple materials release simultaneously — flooring, paint, cabinetry, adhesives — overwhelms smaller carbon beds more quickly; the Ultra's 4,500-acre surface area handles simultaneous multi-contaminant loads more effectively.
AirMedic Pro 6 Ultra CADR Rating and Filter Stack
The Ultra uses the same three-stage architecture (pre-filter, carbon main bed, Super HEPA) as the HD, but with a 5" carbon bed instead of 3.5". CSA/UL certified. Operating weight: 58 lbs — 6 lbs heavier than the standard Pro 6 due to the additional carbon. Available in Black, Sandstone, and White. If your application is moderate chemical sensitivity or VOC removal in a standard office or residential setting, the standard Pro 6 (17 lbs) or Plus (21–24 lbs) will likely serve you at lower filter replacement cost; the Ultra is for high-demand environments where maximum capacity justifies the investment.

AllerAir AirMedic Pro 6 Ultra Air Purifier – 32 lb Carbon...
How deep is the carbon bed in the Pro 6 Ultra versus the HD and standard models?
The Ultra has a 5" carbon bed (31–34 lbs), the HD has a 3.5" bed (26–29 lbs), and the standard Pro 6 has a 2.5" bed (17–18 lbs). Greater bed depth means longer air-carbon contact time, which improves removal of lower-concentration contaminants and extends filter service intervals.
What is the carbon surface area of the Pro 6 Ultra?
The Ultra's carbon bed has 4,500 acres of surface area — more than the HD's 3,500 acres and the standard Pro 6's lower capacity. Higher surface area means more bonding sites for chemical molecules before the carbon saturates.
Is the Super HEPA in the Ultra the same grade as in the HD?
Yes. Both the Ultra and the HD use Super HEPA at 99.99% efficiency at 0.01 microns. The Ultra's advantage over the HD is exclusively in carbon capacity — the deeper 5" bed and 31–34 lb weight versus the HD's 3.5" bed at 26–29 lbs.
When does the Ultra make sense over the HD?
Choose the Ultra when you need the longest possible filter service interval, the highest chemical load capacity, or when the HD's 3.5" carbon bed proves insufficient for your contamination level. The Ultra costs more per filter change but handles contamination levels that overwhelm the HD.
What is the weight difference between the Ultra and the standard Pro 6?
The Pro 6 Ultra weighs 58 lbs operating — 1 lb more than the HD (57 lbs) and 1 lb more than the standard Pro 6 (57 lbs). The additional weight is from the extra 14–17 lbs of carbon versus the standard model, partially offset by differences in other components.
What is the noise level of the Ultra on low speed?
The Ultra operates at 39 dB(A) on low speed — the same as the standard Pro 6 and HD, since they share the same motor platform. Maximum speed reaches 60 dB(A).

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
