PF53 / PF54 Wet/Dry Vacuum — 15-Gallon Commercial Recovery in Stainless Steel or Poly Tank
The Powr-Flite PF53 (stainless steel tank) and PF54 (polyethylene tank) are 15-gallon commercial wet/dry vacuums sharing a 1,200W / 1.6 HP motor with 114 CFM and 100" water lift. Both models include a 1.6" x 10" swivel hose, 2-piece stainless steel wand, and a full tool kit. The PF53 uses a tip-and-pour drain on its 18-gauge stainless tank; the PF54 uses a rear-mounted drain hose on its poly tank. Three-stage filtration with pleated cartridge and washable cloth filter ships standard on both.
PF53 / PF54 Motor Output, Tank Options, and Drain Systems
The tank material choice between PF53 and PF54 is the primary selection decision: stainless for corrosive fluid recovery or environments requiring sanitizable tanks; poly for lighter weight and lower cost where corrosion resistance isn't required.
1,200W / 1.6 HP motor with 114 CFM and 100" water lift — handles both large-debris dry pickup and high-volume wet recovery across 15 gallons before emptying
Tank options: 18-gauge stainless (PF53) or polyethylene (PF54) — PF53 weighs 61 lbs full; PF54 weighs 52 lbs; PF53 suits chemical-resistant and sanitizable requirements, PF54 suits general recovery
Drain systems: tip-and-pour (PF53) vs. drain hose (PF54) — tip-and-pour on the SS model requires tilting the tank to drain; the poly model's rear-mounted drain hose empties without lifting
3-stage filtration: pleated cartridge plus washable cloth — pleated paper cartridge captures fine particles; cloth secondary filter catches what passes through; optional paper bag (155PB) adds a sealed third stage
1.6" wide hose reduces clogs — wider diameter than standard 1-1/4" hoses passes larger debris without blockage on construction and renovation jobs
360-degree swivel hose connector — hose rotates freely at tank connection; eliminates kinking when working around obstacles or pulling the machine across a job site
PF53 / PF54 Applications and Environments
Restoration contractors use the PF53 stainless model for water damage recovery jobs where tank sanitization between jobs is required by protocol. Janitorial supply distributors carry both models as commercial replacements for consumer wet/dry units in schools, office buildings, and retail facilities. Construction contractors on renovation projects use the PF54 poly model for drywall dust and construction debris recovery across multi-floor job sites. Facilities maintenance teams in manufacturing plants use both for floor drain backflow recovery and machine coolant spill cleanup, selecting stainless or poly based on the fluid chemistry involved.

Located in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, we acquired our Brio Air Filter in mid-late Spring of this year (2023) when pollen count was high and we were beginning to experience the effects of Poor Air Quality Index as a result of smoke particulates from fires in Canada that caused the air in much of Minnesota to become hazy and simply dirty.
It is so easy to share our experience with the Brio Air Filter given how quickly and efficiently it removed pollen, dust, and smoke particles from the environment inside our home. Two people in our home who suffer from pollen-related allergies during the spring immediately experienced easier breathing and elimination of symptoms within the house. With respect to smoke particulates from Canada drifting into our environment, EVERYONE in our home experienced directly improved breathing and smell of the air when entering from outside.
An additional piece of information to account for is that we have always employed high grade furnace filters in our home’s central HVAC system. With that high grade filtration in place both prior to and after acquiring a Brio home air filter, we all quickly agreed that deploying the Brio in our home made an easily noticeable positive difference in breathing inside our home. Additionally, those of us who clean our home have observed that dust builds up slower on our floors and furniture than before we deployed the Brio unit.
We did note that the Brio is not as quiet as a few other brands/models on the market that we have tried in our home but the efficiency and quality of the filtration, along with the air turnover rate it provides, allows us to locate the Brio unit in central rooms away from the bedrooms. Since we made that change there has been no noise-related effect on our sleep, while the unit maintains the same level of air cleanliness throughout our home.
A last key point to make is how easy the Brio unit is to maintain. The simplicity of the modular construction of the Brio unit makes it very quick and easy to keep the filtration sections clean. We have not yet reached a point of filter replacement but it is obvious to us that the replacement will take a matter of seconds and can be executed by anyone in our home, including our 10-year-old son.
It seems to help reduce my allergy issues. We're glad we bought it. The only problem I had was not seeing any cubic footage recommendations in the online description when purchasing the unit. Bedrooms vary widely in size!!
