Cordless Floor Scrubbers for Untethered Cleaning

Where Cordless Beats Corded

Battery and cordless floor scrubbers solve three operational problems that corded units cannot. They eliminate cord drag and cord-snag injuries in retail, healthcare, and hospitality where customer traffic crosses cleaning paths. They cover ground that no outlet can reach, which matters in warehouses with long runs and parking decks with sparse power. They also let one operator work continuous shifts without rotating outlets every 50 feet. The tradeoff is runtime and weight: most lithium battery scrubbers run 3 to 4 hours per charge, and battery weight adds 40 to 80 pounds to the platform.

Lithium vs Lead-Acid Battery Choice

Lithium battery scrubbers cost 30 to 60 percent more upfront than lead-acid equivalents but deliver longer service life, faster recharge, and consistent output as the battery drains. Lead-acid runs cheaper to acquire and is the right pick for facilities that have one operator running fewer than 15 hours per week. Lithium becomes the better total-cost option above 25 weekly hours because lead-acid batteries typically need replacement every 18 to 24 months under heavy use, while lithium runs 5 to 8 years before noticeable degradation. Recharge time is the other factor: lithium runs 2 to 3 hours to full; lead-acid needs 8 hours and a separate cool-down period.

Deck Size and Solution Tank Match the Facility

Cordless scrubber deck width should match the average corridor and aisle width of the facility, not the open-floor maximum. A 15 to 17 inch deck navigates most retail and healthcare layouts; 20 to 22 inches is the working range for warehouses and large retail; 24 inches and up belongs to open warehouse and distribution floors. Solution tank capacity should match the runtime: a 10 gallon tank pairs with a 3-hour battery; a 20 gallon tank with a 4-hour battery. Undersized tanks force frequent refill stops that cancel the runtime advantage of going cordless in the first place.
